A pretty fun game. Reminds me of Caesar 3 quite a bit, but much more detailed. This game is a must have for all Roman ERA fanatics.

A older city builder, the seqeul of Imperium Romanum is Grand ages Rome. Al tough the city build part is nice. The city looks lively and feels like a roman town

The weak points are:

Limited land for building.

not much choice how and were to place buildings.

Comabat is not really fun or a challenge

Overall not a bad game. It starts out like a common roman citybuilder with the difference of having step by step goals instead of a final mission goal. You keep building roman cities for each mission of which usually vegetation and climate change depending on the real locations. It contains a very small military part which server to protect you or destroy Barbarian villages a la Asterix and Obelix. Although be warned there is very small emphasis on the military in this game and unit controls are quite arcady.

Its visuals despite being a few years old are still decent today and building details and a close to free roaming camera view provide you with the optic tools to enjoy a few hours in Roman history.

On a scale of 1 to 6 with 6 being the best the game receives a solid 4.

Its not bad as a game or grafics but i cant say that i became enthusiastic from this game. Its a good attempt at a city builder its true but for the rest became boring.I think the younger players will find it more intersting.

Imperium Romanum Gold review

Its a good attempt at a city builder. I've played many of this genre from Pharaoh to Children of the Nile, to IR. While Imperial Romanum cannot be compared to the classics of yesteryear, it provides the solid gameplay a city builder should have. I don't feel it brings anything special or new to the genre. The graphics are crisp though, and it provides a wide array of missions to undertake. I was disappointed that the battle tutorial mission was broken. Currently I still can't deploy my troops. But the other missions haven't proved to show the same problem thus far. A core complaint is that there are no overlay features. Various structures provide information, but there is no clear way to see what is in range of what, or which buildings need what. I expected an overlay feature not unlike those of Zeus, Pharaoh. A second bug is that placing structures is weird, and roads don't seem to have the same effect as they do in past city builders.

Bottom line: its a good game. IR doesn't do anything new, but looks great and plays well.
