GAME SUMMARY

Imperii

Rating: 3.2 (23 votes cast)

A fast-paced action filled strategy game where you as commander in chief should build a base to defend the last green park in the empire. The enemies will do all they can to breach your defence. Waves after waves of enemies will be thrown upon your walls. Will they last?

You start the game with a green park and some gold. With the gold you should build a defense around the green park to defend it from monsters. The monsters will arrive at certain times in waves. By killing monsters, you get more gold to build further on your defense. Buildings can be upgraded for increased strength, range and shot speed.

In Imperii you will meet 6 different kinds of monsters, and they all require special strategies to defeat. To defend, you can build 7 different kinds of turrets, from simple laser cannons to nova explosion triggers. You can also build barricades to force monsters walking into your defence. And energy cells to boost turrets.
The difficulty in the game is to balance between different buildings, maze size and upgrades. There is no wrong way to build the defense, as long as it works!

I think neverbox says it pretty well.

Several problems with the game. You can't destroy guns you've already laid down, the shots don't really hit the bouncy-blobs that are your intruders (they only go in the vicinity of), and simply hitting 'exc' kicks you out of the game completely. The perspective makes it hard to tell just where you are about to put your gun. The wave indicator often doesn't point to a wave.

This can become a fun game someday, but it's immature. It might be worth five bucks, but not more. At least not yet. Let's hope the author keeps after it and makes this a worthwhile game.

It's a shame. This could have been a really fun game. However, the execution leaves something to be desired in my opinion. The easy mode needs to be easier. The graphics make it hard to tell where holes in your walls are. The pause button doesn't always work and you can't tell if it's paused or not. You can't start building while paused. I might be mistaken, but it seems like it was showing me that I was on a different wave than the sides guide indicated. I tried to install the patch from his website, but it says I don't have the game installed. The key layout for the things you have to press -quickly- is not intuitive for me. The bottom line is that it's just too hard too quickly for me to enjoy it. Try the demo first before you buy.

This game is simple to pick up and win with on easy mode in the normal ruleset, but gets REALLY hard when you up the difficulty and play with the different game options. Some are insanely hard. It is a quick reaction game so you have very little time to think and plan out a strategy as hoards of cute blobs try to self destruct on your pretty little park. They come at it from the straightest line possible so it is important to set up walls as fast as you can, then lay down a good mix of turrets at the one opening you leave.

For $5.00, you get plenty of game for the price. I find it to be strangely addicting and hard to put down. I can't quite say why. The graphics aren't anything great (it is an independent game afterall), the music repetative (though not annoying in the least), and the goal pretty simple. It is just fun. Try it out and see!
