A great old game for anyone who enjoys a good business sim. The developers have done a good job tweaking it for modern graphics cards, but not so good on repackaging (read on). It runs fine on my Windows 7 x64 system with an ATI 7000 series Radeon card. Game-play is a sort of cross between Transport Tycoon and Capitalism 2. The 2D isometric graphics are very much like Transport Tycoon or Railroad Tycoon 2, so don't expect huge amounts of eye candy, but it is pretty enough and certainly functional. But the game-play is solid, and it's all about the game-play, right?

I did not give the game four stars because of two problems I encountered after installing the game. The first is that whoever packaged the 2012 re-release failed to have the installer create a save game sub-folder in the main game directory. If you don't create one manually, you cannot save games. So you must go to the game install folder, and manually create a folder entitled "Save" (without quotes). Then you can save games, and the autosave feature will work.

The second, and more irritating problem is that the 2012 repackaging has all the scenario descriptions in German. The fix for this is in the maps subfolder where the description text files reside. After quite a bit of searching on the internet, I found the English versions of these text files and replaced the existing German ones. Voila, all the descriptions are now in English.

4 Stars four a great old game (should have been 5), and one star off for sloppy packaging.

The only thing I can add to previous reviews is that this version seems to be mired with unfinished translations, leaving the text on the intro video and all the map description texts in German. Not Gamersgates fault, but my older CD version never had this problem. Doesn't really affect the game but I thought any potential buyers might want to know this.

one issue I found in game which must be fixed if this game is here on sale, "The university is invisible in the preview and after building it, and it only needs a 1x1 square to build, a bug which must be fixed", as a solution you may download this file "http://ul.to/wo0hjj26" and then replace it with the already existing one in "gfx/1_buildings/5_town/4_specialbuildings", it works, done it already.. other than that the game works fine and fun,still keeps you on PC for hours..

This is a good business simulation, the AI is nothing special, but its fun if you play in sandbox style, no opponent. 3.5*

This version even works with Nvidia graphic cards (the original version did not work on newer Nvidia cards).

I spent many, many hours playing the original Industry Giants and loved it. This version adds little or nothing to the game experience of the first. Graphics are simplistic and (on my machine) have an annoying flicker. The game engine is dated (almost retro). Most disappointing, compared to the original it feels dumbed-down.

I play Industry Giant 2 a couple of times and now it's just one more icon on my desktop.

Awesome game for when it first came out and the game play is still a lot of fun today even if the visuals are a bit dated.

If you can't save your game, make sure that you have a save folder where the game is trying to save it, that seems to be an issue with this installation in that when I bought the game and installed it, the game installer did not create a save folder so I couldn't save the game. Made the folder myself and now it saves fine.

Overall a solid game in my opinion.

A typical campaign game comes with set objectives you must achieve. They could be as easy as making several million bucks in profit within a number of years, defeating the competition, or something obscure as selling enough luxury cars or helping out extraterrestrials who need a list of rather exotic spare parts.You will start most of your games by analyzing your scenario map, looking to see where cities are located and where natural resources can be found. Natural resources appear as some cute little icon that usually sticks out from the ground at an angle, so you can't possibly miss them - for example, iron ore is represented by steel girders, quartz sand by a green bottle, and petroleum by a drum.

Oldie but goldie. This and Capitalism II are still one of the most playable games ever. Whish game companies stop making trash we are getting lately and look up to abilities and playability of this game and Capitalism II. Five stars and nothing less.

This is a game that has given so many hours of entertainment, and still does to this day. IT IS AMAZING the depth of setting up your raw materials to manufacturing to retail chains using all of the different transportation modes, from trucks to trains, helicopters and jet planes - and yes - you even design the road and bridge networks!

THIS GAME IS A MASTERPIECE THAT NEEDS TO BE RE-MADE INTO 3D, but believe me, while you wait, there is absolutely no other game like it.

This old game is stil is alot of fun, quite nice graphic,s despite of its age, and good gameplay. but needs some tweaking to make it work properly on newer pc,s.

What can I say this is a great upgrade from Transport Tycoon Deluxe. The graphics are exceptional the building structure is one of the best. You can play against up to 3 AI opponents who in the beginning can be very tough. You start out somewhere in the early 1900's and can go into the 2000's. The game is great because of the graphics of what you are making and selling. Building and supplying is pretty simple and straight forward. The only issue I had with the game is the traffic jams as the game progresses in time is horrible and I recommend using railroads as soon and as much as possible.

Unfortunately is doesn't come with a random map generator ( a pet peave of mine usually) so you are stuck with playing the pre-generated ones included, but, there are a lot so it will take you awhile to play through them all.

If you are a fan of Transport games then I highly recommend this game. It's fun an addicting and you'll find the hours have passed you by before you know it while playing it. I've called into work sick a few times after some all-nighters. ;)

For those who dont want to see blood and guts but still want a strategy game this is for you. its an older game with not the greatest graphics, but even today it keeps me entertained. if the ever remade this i would be one of the first to buy it, but till then this shall have to do.

A nice game indeed. Not as spectacular as newer titles, but entertaining; the kind of gamers who play economic simulations aren´t usually the kind who go for all that modern graphics glory.

To the previous reviewer I would like to add that lorries are efficient mostly at short distances and small volumes; mostly you are better off using trains or ships.

I would really love to see a remake of this game, even if it was just a bit of a graphics overhaul to make it compatible with modern hardware, perhaps some new campaigns (I loved the tongue-in-cheek nature of Banana Republic and Z-Files).

A rather nice game, not great but good enough.

In the first stage of the game it is a nice challenge to be profitable. Later on in the game you have real issues with micromanagment of your lorries. I had fun with this game for at least 48 hours.
