Hard Truck Apocalypse - Rise of Clans

Rating: 3.8 (27 votes cast)

Clans have risen. The remains of humanity gather in cities forming tribes that work and fight together to survive.

Become part of one of these clans in the apocalyptic world of the first official add-on of Hard Truck Apocalypse. Developed by Buka Entertainment and Targem Studio, this add-on standalone brings what media & consumers were demanding… Multiplayer mode!! Play over Internet or in a local network with many friends in savage truck battles in this futuristic like Mad Max world.

Create a clan or join one already created, improve your truck with better weapons, armor and engines, cover the hull with your war colors and go to the battle.

  • The multiplayer mode is the most important feature of this add-on standalone. The game supports up to 16 players via LAN and Internet. Choose your truck, get money killing other players and improve your weaponry. Wear your war colors and send your machine into the battle. Deathmatch & Team Deathmatch modes available.
  • The history continues from the end of the first part. New locations to visit, new trucks & weapons and lots of new quests to solve.
  • The new version of the graphic engine on which the game is based, improves the physics and visual effects, already amazing in the original game.

I really like the idea of this game yet found the game really lacking on playability. The graphics are ok the localization isn't horrible. I just keep getting stuck in funny places loke falling off a bridge into rocks it doesn't kill you, but you have to reload to get unstuck which is frustrating if you do not save often.

An interesting trading game that replaces open space with terrain. Unfortunately, the translations (made in Russia!) can sometimes be rather poor, and the game can be rather buggy on newer systems.

The sequel to “Hard Truck Apocalypse” , “Hard Truck Apocalypse: Rise of Clans” manages to miss what made the first game so charming. It seems to take itself a bit too seriously, and while the voice acting, the rest of the game is not polished enough for the player to look at it so.

The environment seems to lack the marvel that the first game had, but everything else is delivered intact. The story is also easier to understand (although I found a lot of unintentional humor in the first one). The vehicles added are a disappointment, and I never tried out the multilayer. This sand box type of game would have really benefited from a open game mode with other players, even if it required a dedicated host. As it was, running around in arenas in trucks never appealed to me.

If you haven't played Hard Truck Apocalypse, you should. It show cases some of the delightful game design that has been trickling from Eastern Europe for the last few years. The Star Wolf series is another great example of this. Both series gives you a colorful universe with a wonderfully skewed outlook, that is easy to interpret but alien at the same time. In many ways they, and the indie community at large, are returning to the golden age of games before large publishers like EA and multimillion dollar titles compromised to the common denominator. These games are anything but common.

This is a Driving/Vehicular Combat game where you ride a vehicle to survive the wasteland.

Vehicle Customization is the best part in this game, and there's lots of weapons and tools to load and use, ranging from Ramming Spikes to a top-mounted Missile Launcher.

Combat is fun on open area. but enemy AI is nowhere existent, as I've seen bandits falling off cliffs trying to follow me across the river, despites there's a bridge RIGHT NEXT TO THEM.

The world is ridiculously large, and takes time to travel across the map, specially when you don't have turbos or engines with high max speed yet.

You can interact with villages for missions and supplies, some mission had time limit which seemed too short for me.

Good concept, Executed poorly. I'd say it could worth giving a shot if you like post apocalyptic theme and you can tolerate its slow progress.
