Gunstar Heroes review
Easy to learn and fun to play, Gunstar Heroes is a run-and-gun game along the lines of Contra or Metal Slug for the Genesis. You basically just go through the levels, collect various weapons (can hold 2 at a time and even combine their effects) and kill everything in site, coming across a few bosses along the way. The game is a lot of fun and can be quite challenging at times, though there are infinite continues so it's not impossible by any means. Even better is the addition of co-op mode which is simply a blast. Overall an excellent game and definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a fun game.
Nostalgic Game
Gunstar heroes was one of the most played games in my childhood. Every weekend my cousin and me tried to finish the game... and we failed. A lot of funny hours spent in this fantastic game, the guns are amazing, and the final boss have a difficult level. Thanks to GG for sell this game.
Gunstar Heroes review
This is an amazingly fun game still. Best played with a controller, since thats what it was meant for.
While the emulator does slow-down on occasion, it does not detract from the fast pace of the game since it is not often (on my machine, anyway)
The visuals are bright and the game is very easily distinguished, the controls are also simple to pick up and play and with the emulator, you can save at any point if you dont have time to keep playing, a great buy
Gunstar Heroes review
This is a wild, co-op, run and gun shooter emulated from the Sega Genesis. Up to two people can take control of the characters Red and Blue and blast through lots of enemies of many shapes and sizes, in similar style to Contra or Metal Slug. If you can hook up two controllers to your computer, it's just like playing the Genesis classic. I always preferred the Contra series, but Gunstar Heroes still holds up well today. If you can get a hold of the Gameboy Advance sequel, that is even more highly recommended as an insane and awesome improvement.
Gunstar Heroes review
This is a classic fast paced side scrolling shooter from the Sega Megadrive/Genesis era. It holds up quite well today with great sprite graphics, challenging gameplay and some cool weapons and unique bosses. It's a great coop game to blast through with a friend.
The game is emulated via an emulator which is quite decent, you can choose your resolution and fixed/stretch aspect ratio. You have some filtering options like bilinear filtering to smooth the sprites, or tv to emulate television scanlines. You can also remapped keys for your keyboard/gamepad, and of course, you can save and load anywhere in the game which I think is a big plus.
Gunstar Heroes review
Gunstar Heroes was one of the best games the Genesis/Mega Drive had to offer and is still going strong today. It's a run 'n' gun game where you have to mow down everything in sight. It gets very hectic sometimes, which makes it very challenging. The graphics and sounds are really great, too. Treasure really knew how to squeeze every bit out of the console. Especially the 2-Player mode is a blast.
Be sure to give this a try if you like games like Contra or Metal Slug. You won't be disappointed.
