Not the greatest user interface. Plot not really interesting and also very loosely based on the GoT books. Long, cumbersome and generally disappointing.

If you love the series or the book this game is a must-have. It allows you to play within the campaign all the famous characters out of the books, which I quite enjoyed. The multiplayr game only makes sense if you play it with other human players as the computer is not able to really fullfil the needs of a good intrigue, and a bluff is always better played against a man than a machine. Playing with three or four human players can be much fun and leads to devistation of friendships... but hey what is a contract if you can have the crown?

I think this is an exellent game! it sometimes plays a lot like a board game, but mostly its quite engaging. Its nice to be able to win games without resorting to all out war, but its also good that the option is there. Some aspects may have been better thought out, on the whole however this is quite interasting.

Adding insult to injury is the fact that multiplayer matches, where you're most likely to see Genesis' best assets in action, are very difficult to come by. Whether you seek a ranked match or browse for an unranked one, you're unlikely to find many rivals, if any at all. That leaves you with one-off AI matches and the campaign, neither of which makes good on the game's excellent premise. There are a fine number of maps to keep you busy if this distinctive brand of furtive scheming appeals to you, but the best strategy games suck you in, whereas this one fails to use its spark to light any fires--and may leave you feeling as cold as ice.

Fate conspired against me on this one. I was in the process of reading the books when this came out and I was suffering from "game of thrones fever." Graphics are decent. Gameplay was lackluster. I played the game for longer than I should have in the hopes that it would get better. It did not.

This is a good game, but not a fantastic game. Overall, anyway, some features really don't do at all. Such a little detail as the tutorial not being voiced at all, nor properly introduced - VS the campaign that is fully voiced - says it all, really. And even though I've only seen the (much more epic) HBO movie version, and not read the books, I have a sneaky feeling this game design doesn't pay much tribute to the author. (As usual?) Most gaming veterans will see that the budget was more important than making a great game for the fans, sadly. Sometimes the seizure of control from the player during cut scenes and tutorials is quite frustrating and seems pointless. Sometimes one has the feeling that the mission (in campaign) is failing repeatedly because one is controlling not-too-bright syrup soldiers (even syrup horses) - not proud-Song-of-Ice-and-Fire-disciplined-armies. It's got the history of legend, but not the scale nor the feel that battles and power shifts and a game of thrones over a 1000 years would have. It is actually best at the small-scale backdoor alley sneaking and scheming, not the epic battles nor heraldry.

The game feels like it has a hidden mode. You can either play the different campaign missions, which more seems like a strange tutorial. Sometimes I got caught up, but then the next mission was simpler and easier than the one before?

The House on House game seemed more interesting, but it must only work in PvP, for everytime playing against computer it's over after 30min. And everything takes so long to do that a game that's finished after 30min...

The game is too complex for the short games and small map. It feels like they had a thougth about what they wanted to do, but then left something out. Two stars because the different complexities and the feeling that you're missing something. But I've stopped playing and maybe I'll play a couple of hours in 2-3 years when the next book comes...

The game is very limited and the campaign is very boring and has too many bugs to even be enjoyed without ample frustration. The only reason it even gets 2 stars is because the house vs house is the only decent part of the game. Although the game is new it feels like it is at least 10 years old with the game play and graphics definitely not worth buying at any point though.

A Game Of Thrones: complex but cool

There is a bit more than just 'diving in' with this game. the graphics are nice and the story is awesome. takes some time to ramp up; but, once you do it is fun.

A Game Of Thrones: Genesis - don't buy it or at least wait for detailed reviews

By Omniouseye posted 5th October 2011

I should waited for a more detailed review with video of game play. I usually only buy older games with guarantee good ratings and at a discount. So you guys save your 40 bucks on this one. I don't why i got it in the first place lol. The graphics are poor and outdated (10 yesrs ago equivalent). And gameplay is quite boring and limited. I won't go into details, but take it from someone who is very open minded and tolerant on game. I actually adore some rather unknown games and not so fancy graphics that makes you think outside of the box, but this one... there isn't much redeeming features. It probably worth more like 10$. If you don't believe me, wait a bit for a full review on you tube.

Being used to Total War strategy games and the ones made by Paradox the game feels a bit unorganized. Nice touch with the underhand interactions though but cant really say that it is a game that I want to play over and over again.

The game play is not very complex and is in fact pretty rudimentary. The campaign mode is short and brief it might be a fun game to play with multiple players because the AI is horrible. I would not recommend this game as it is both bad and not a good reflection of a great story.
