Quite good, too bad about the add-ons

By Phc7006 posted 5th May

The game itself is quite fun and enjoyable. Being a port from a mobile version, it may appear at time too simple for veteran pc players. The most unfortunate thing about it is that the devs decided not to port the two extensions (Valkyrie and Spernova) to the windows version "because they felt that they had already reached all potential customers". Unfortunate because those extensions seem worth their price. They also decided not to allow any modding. Do they expect us buying an iOS version to enjoy the extended content ?

This is a fun short order game. While it's not going to wow you with depth, it will keep you playing with an easy to use interface, fast pace, entertaining upgrades, and truely different weapons to fit many play styles. It looks good enough and sounds are fitting. With a low price point if you are looking for a fun space shooter that wants to be Wing Commander Privateer... you can settle for GoF 2 and feel a bit satisfied. It's good enough!

I really enjoyed this game alot. The storyline was very compelling. You had to fly into the unknown and save galaxy (a requirement for any scifi RPG). I didn't realize when I bought the game that it required Steam to play or I would not have bought it. Another game I bought was so slow on Steam that it wasn't worth playing. I reloaded Steam to my account and it worked fine. You wouldnt know you were playing through Steam. The game has all the great elements space dogfighting, trading, mining, outfitting your ship with better weapons and equipment and even upgrading to a bigger and better ship. There are four factions in the game. If you make one mad by shooting too many of their ships you can find a diplomat in the Space Lounge to fix your standing for a small sum (actually a cheap fix after getting much more in loot from their ships). You can also do missions that are not part of the main storyline which is what you are left with once the storyline has been completed. It took me about 20 hours of play to finish the storyline. The other missions can be contracted in the space lounge and fall into several categories - kill ships, courier missions to deliver an item, save a kidnapped dignitary, find a particular item someone is looking for. You can also get a good/ or bad deal on buying commodities. Sometimes you can buy a blueprint for an equipment item that cannot be found. You gather the required materials and build the items in any station. The homing missile that I found was a great find. Almost kills an enemy ship in one shot and doesn't miss. Definitely worth building. I rated it a four because I wish there was more to the storyline or that there would be secondary storyline missions that you could embark on. Still a great game with great visuals and easy to learn interface. Drilling takes some getting used to and a better drill really helps. It would also be nice if there were more places to explore. You get a drive in the mission that allows you to jump immediately to any known star systems without using the jumpgates (its a prototype). It would be nice if you could jump to some unknown star systems and do some Xploring (that is one of the 5 Xs of a good space sim. You do have the one system involved in the storyline mission. I had alot of fun with this and will probably play it some more. Maybe they will come out with some addons to it. That would be nice.

Great game which I knew from my iPhone. It was really nice to play this one again. The only unfortunate thing about it is the lack of DLC's which were in the iPhone version of the game.

This game was a fair bit of fun, I tries it on the tablet but was not able to get comfortable with the interface but when I found it on sale I figured it was worth a shot and it turned out to be a blast. There is a set story line to follow but it can be ignored as you explore and you can finish it at your leisure and when you do finish you can continue to explore the galaxy. Not a real hard game but it had about the right level of fun for me.

Fun little game, very easy to pick up, if you enjoy the likes of Freelancer you will probably enjoy this.

While this game would be 3 stars if it were in a more combat flight simulator saturated market, but it is not in one. It accepts joy sticks, and has fun loot; it works.

This game is just far too short to really become familiar with - at least the main story. The actual game continues in a sort of Elite/Privateer 2/Freelancer like sandbox zip-around-and-just-do-stuff setup. I completed the main story in only five hours. I was hoping for something close to X, or even Darkstar One, but my expectations were nowhere near what I got. (Possible concession to more limited platforms, like iPhones? GoF runs on just about anything...) To be fair, this IS a highly accessible, easy to learn, fix of space action - if this is what you're looking for, you're reading up on the right game. The problem remains that the official story lacks credibility, is immature, and ends before you even register that it's begun. There are expansions on the way, but I for one won't be buying them.

An okay game, not exactly the hardest. It has a range of customization and the open sandbox world is what saves the game. The cheesy voice acting can become anoying, but luckily you can skip almost every dialoge in the game. If you are expecting a X3 type of simulator you should probably skip this game, but if you want just to have some fun in space, this is probably a game for you.

A typical Space RPG shooting, exploration, and trading game. This game is in sandbox mode and story mode, meaning you can explore the universe without having to do any of the later missions. However, the story mode is somewhat short.

Graphics are good, ship control is smooth, and there is quite a diversity in weapons, equipment, and ships you can purchase.

The good;

Story mode is set in a sandbox universe

A large diversity in what you can buy

Multiple ways to play the game

Learning to play is easy

The bad;

AI is too predictable

AI prioritize you over other enemy ships

Short story line

It can be slow to earn money or build blueprints late-game.

Excellent, I have used several space sims in the past I.e EGOSOFT X series and Evochron Mercenay. But this game was very Interesting in that the game play is on a defferent level i.e. simpler. No Manual as such. So you do the first mission and it is all explained as you go along. Great Graphics. The Interface i.e. Mouse or Joystick work very well on a PC anyway. So in conclusion A NICE DIVERSE GAME. Worth the dosh.

This is an amazing space adventure that started out on the iOS platform that grew even bigger and better with a Full HD version as well as the Valkyrie and the upcoming Supernova add ons for that platform. Now is has arrived on the PC and is extremely gorgeous in Full 1080p as well as the engaging storyline missions or freelance missions that you are able to become involved with. I have owned every version on iOS and can easily recommend the PC version as the best version yet. I am hoping that they release the add ons for the PC so it will enhance this experience and make it an even better game. Buy it without hesitation if you enjoy this type of game!
