Gothic II Gold Edition review

RPG with a great story and an increased difficulty unlike the newer games. Very good game and well worth your time. Take on the role of the unnamed hero and once again venture into the world of Myrtana.

Very good game if you like medievil rpg's. I do not like it as much as i thought i would. It is one of the more "impossible" games. i suggest trying a demo or watching vids on yt before buying. In the beginning it is literally a deathtrap. Fact is, in the beginning you are going to die, a lot! Save, Save, Save!!! That is my best advise. Overall a good game and i would reccomend it to experienced gamers and probably a higher age than most. It is kind of hard to catch on to the concept at first. Definitely worth the buy to me after you get past the into.

Definitely the best game I ever played yet! Though there were few tolerable bugs, I played this game smoothly over and over and over again.

Gothic II, like its prequel, offered freedom in exploration, combat and the way you solve different quests. So far, I haven't found an RPG that matches this one. Add-ons like "The Night of the Raven", "Velaya's Quest" etc... even make me enjoy the game more.

Kudos to the developers, hope you'll make games like this in the future.

Wake up! Wake up and smell the ashes, Nameless One! You're weak, you've forgotten much and you have got nothing but tree branch as weapon. Try to stay alive, on your way to Khorinis, help peasants, obtain Innos Amulet (but first solve tons of quests), learn new skills, meet old friends and new enemies (as new enemies, who was your friends), return to Mining Colony, fight mythic Dragons and destroy Beliar powerful minion, once more. Ah, don't forget to grab anything which isn't nailed down!

Ahhh, Gothic II. One of those games that will remain in your memory. I bought and played it for hundred of hours when it came out, and I then decided to buy again this gold version years later, just to have a digital copy. I made a second play through and, after the original shock about the graphic, certainly not at the level of todays’ RPGs, I was immerse again in a vibrant World full of adventures. I really don’t like the direction of the modern RPGs, Mass Effect and Dragon Age or, soon, Skyrim. This old school game is very unforgiving and, thus, so much more rewarding that the idiocy they are selling now. At the beginning you are afraid even of a single wolf, in the end you will brave enough to face multiple Ogre’s. And what about the satisfaction of taking down that Black troll? I smiled for days (in real life) after that. I don’t know if it is true that you cannot make money selling game’s like this, but, my friends, this game gives you a real sense of accomplishment. A must buy.

If you were a fan of Gothic 1, this game, will continue its tradition of keeping you pinned to your chair, continuing the Saga, especially with Gothic 2 addon, which prolongs the enjoyment even more!

If you aren't familiar with this game, consider one thing before buying it, and that is the time. Time you are going to loose when you get addicted to the atmosphere and the story. Its highly recommended to play Gothic 1 first, but hardly necessary.

Great game, great story, and for the money asked, it is most worthiest game on the market!

If you want a good, challenging RPG, then this is for you. I recommend playing with the Gothic I controls, even though they might seem a little wierd in the beginning (if you haven't played Gothic I), but trust me, those controls actually makes the game more enjoyable when you've gotten the hang of it.

Ahh the Gothic RPG series, loved by some, not loved by others.

I would consider Gothic 2 to be the best out of the Gothic series. It is an open-world environment (for the most-part) where you can explore the gameworld as you please except some areas will be inaccessible due to strong enemies killing you before you can pass through.

Multiple side-quests are part of the game and you get the choice of supporting 3 different factions to help replayability. The Gothic 2 area revisits a few of the old Gothic 1 areas, so it is great to see how the areas changed from the first game.

The one main issue people tend to have with the Gothic series is the combat. There were no game-breaking combat bugs in Gothic 2 (compared to Gothic 3's boar-stun), however the combat can be considered 'clunky' especially early on. Part of the clunkiness is due to the fact that a low-level character is meant to control more poorly and eventually when you get a higher level you'll be able to chain your combat moves and will swing more 'fluidly'. However it still takes time to adjust to the combat.

The strength of the Gothic series is that you have a world you can explore as you wish, and you can take on some tough monsters early on by trying to hit'n'run them. The game doesn't scale enemies to your level.

Overall the main quest and side-quests are quite lengthy, although the final boss fight is a bit weak and underwhelming as a result (that tends to be the case in all Gothic games). However some of the fights prior to the final boss can be quite challenging.

Unless you like very hard games, I would recommend getting the plain Gothic 2 instead of this "gold" version. The reason for this is that Gothic 2 Gold includes the Night of the Raven expansion, which turns an already challenging game into a very difficult one, and as far as I know, there is no way to remove the expansion. Otherwise, it is a nice action-RPG that continues the story from the first Gothic, in the same gameplay style.

This is a great game! Lots of hours of fun.

It is a huge RPG single-player game, it has lots of options, quests and dessitions to make.

In the start it is a bit difficult to control and you die pretty easily so make sure to save often. But when you get into it you can't stop!

Choose between joining the mercenaries, the Paladins or the fire mages.

Overall a very catching game
