Despite what people say in terms of comparing the campaign to the original F.E.A.R I agree its not as scary, however I find games like this were more enjoyable in multiplayer.

Thanks to gamersgate, I am able to finish the FEAR franchise as I had already played FEAR 1 Platinum and FEAR 3. The FEAR 2 that I purchased from GamersGate included the "Reborn" DLC. FEAR 2 continues on the same mechanics as the original; and this time the environments are more varied; the AI seems smarter and the graphics are much better. This game, unlike the original plays more like a suspense thriller than a horror FPS. The action bits have been spruced up - the mech sequences are enjoyable if a little long. The story continues to be interesting.

The Reborn DLC is not nearly as much fun to play, as it is short and lacks a lot of the suspense factor from the original campaign in FEAR 2. It is not particularly significant story wise either. It provides about 3 hours of gameplay in addition to the 12 hours provided by FEAR 2. As such, I recommend you to pick it up at this price - it's very good and works, both for gunplay-oriented and story-oriented players.

A decent sequel to an amazing game. Graphics has been improved, but in my opinion, to the worse - the graphics are now more ''colorful'', compared to the originals dark, raw and immersive graphics the new graphics feels like they are more to the cartoonish side and happier than before. The gameplay has been kept, but there are some changes made. Changes such as removed the tilt function from first, the enviroments are more open and there are new enemies to name a few.

The original FEAR had loads of gunplay and a little scares, FEAR 2 has even more gunplay and even less scares, so this game feels a lot more action oriented than the predecessor. Overall a good game, totally worth the money if you enjoyed the first one and wants more.

Maybe not as scary and effectful as its predecessor, but this is a solid and very good sidequel! The mechs are a nice touch and this feel more grandiose than the first title. That makes it less scary but sets up for a lot of fantastic action! Enjoy!

Hi,

F.E.A.R. 2, is a excellent (FPS). Battle your way through black ops soldiers to weird mutants. Has NPC audio speeches + sounds effects + more. Has pistol, machine gun, napalm cannon, shotgun, flashlight, jump, run, cycle grenades, incendiary grenades + more. Toggle assignment key for zooming + crouch. Action packed shooting.

Excellent, first person shooter (FPS),

XDDVX.

Though it's not as great as the original FEAR was, FEAR 2 manages to be a quite good action game.

Also, this iteration of the series introduces playable mechs for the first time, in an obvious nod to Shogo: Mobile Armour Division, an earlier Monolith game.

All in all, FEAR 2 is recommended to shooter fans, though you won't find the horror elements found in the first game.

F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin is really a great game. I enjoyed spooky atmosphere!

Also, I don't usually like FPS games, but this one I did not mind, because shooting is great, and story, which is also often not cared about in FPS games, is just great.

I reccomend this game to everyone!

FEAR 2 continues on the original formula but it leans more to the shooting side than the creepy atmosphere side. Sure it has its scary moments but it's obvious that the developers wanted something more fast paced than the original with less "dead" spaces between shooting. Most modern machines will be able to maxed it out easily by now so with full AA and AF the game looks quite nice despite its age. Sadly I think the sound was better in the original especially the enemy commands and screams.

It's a perfect game to kill some time if you are into the FPS genre. Surely not the best ever but it's certainly fun for the time it lasts. All in all a game to finish in 10-15 hours (depending on your pace) and then never go back to it but those 10-15 hours are certainly enjoyable. The GamersGate copy includes the Reborn DLC which adds 1-3 hours of gameplay to the original game and for those who are into the FEAR universe the storyline is quite interesting to experience.

Did I mention you enter an awesome Mech? Consider this amongst the best parts of the game ;)

Still creepy, still good but not quite as good, that's how I'd sum up F.E.A.R 2. Some change are nice, better looking graphics, heavy storyline, all good stuff, however some issue hop out at you. The AI doesn't seem at tight as it does in the first game also he control feel a little... off. For example in F.E.A.R 1 I could bind thing to my gaming mouses buttons but in this one, I can't. As a PC gamer I don't like to pull the "port" card but is does feel at time like a so-so port, does this make it a bad game, no, not at all. It's a very good game. All and all, if you can get past some odd control and AI issues it's a great game, creepy and heavy hitting at times. You will not regret getting this.

F.E.A.R. 2 is a great game. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is thrilling and scary in placesa where it needs to be. However this game is not as scary as the first F.E.A.R. so if you didn't like the first one due to it being scary it's still worth giving this one ago.

When compared to the original FEAR, FEAR 2 is not as scary; however, it improves upon the action gameplay and graphics. The atmosphere is pretty chilling although somewhat monotonous, and I still found myself shooting everything that moves much like I did in the first FEAR xD.

If you buy this game, be aware that multiplayer is quite deserted: on all occasions that I tried to play MP, I found no games in ranked matches and only one or two in unranked matches.

However, the Singleplayer is quite long and couple that with the Reborn DLC, so it's still worth it to get this game just for the SP.

F.E.A.R 2 is one of the horror games that I don't feel comfortable to play. But the action in the game is very nice and it would alleviate any scares you would get during the gameplay.

Graphics and sound effects are very good and the game works natively in Eyefinity resolutions which is always a plus for me

FEAR 2 is perhaps somewhat less suspenseful than FEAR 1 but compensates by improving several other elements. The action is more streamlined and the scene where you operate an armored suit is golden. Though early on the 'scary' scenes are a bit more limited, this changes over time. And several of the 'creepy' moments are perhaps better than those in FEAR 1. Had such scenes been more omnipresent, FEAR 2 Might have decisively surpassed FEAR 1. Now however the 2 are roughly on equal footing. And either way, both are must-play FPS's.

In a way, it's not that good of a sequel, but personally I enjoyed it a lot more, it's more fluid than F.E.A.R 1, it has a better atmosphere and it has a clear separation between the shooter that it really is and the pseudo horror elements, unlike F.E.A.R 1 that tries too much.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin review

The atmosphere in FEAR 2 is very well crafted. Graphics, sounds, levels and the story all fit nicely together.

Gameplay is story-driven, i.e. there are lots of voice overs and cutscenes that keep things interesting. Levels feel well-designed and "organic", i.e. they're not just an incoherent chain of isolated locations. There's also a lot of variety: spooky non-combat sections, the usual FPS fighting sections, running around in a mech or controlling a turret.

Weapon selection offers the usual array of weapons and the system pushes you towards using all of them as no one weapon is suitable for every situation.

As far as game length is concerned, it is comparable to FEAR 1. It's surprisingly long, considering how big games tend to get shorter and shorter.

Multiplayer is a bit bland and doesn't offer much long-term playability. It's still better than that of most single-player games. It's a bonus but nothing I'd buy the game for.

The DLC Reborn adds a few hours of gameplay but it is much shorter than FEAR 1 expansions. It starts off with a refreshing change of perspective. Unfortunately it turns into the usual "you against the rest of the world" later. Level design is however quite interesting and makes up for the run-of-the-mill FEAR-gameplay.

FEAR 2 is a great game and I'd say if you like FPS games with a complex story, give it a try.

OK so Fear 2 has taken me right into the action. Fear 2 became more mature than previous game. While Fears storytelling didnt relly caught me in Fears 2 storytelling is more polished and i may say more interesting.

Action and scary moments are now equally spread throughout the whole game. Although some players may feel that Fear was scarier i caught myself being more scared while playing this game.

Graphics are perfct for the year this game came out. It really takes you into the atmosphere of the game.

Levels are made not so "boring" like in Fear where you had to come through plenty of the same looking offices... Surroundings change in every chapter now which is a big plus.

Sound effects are very good and fit in the game perfectly.

On the other hand gameplay of this game wasnt as good as original Fear. While in Fear AI was IMHO very smart and even could outflank you and appear behind you. AI here just stands behind some cover (sometimes not) and shoots at you with not such a good accuracy. Its clearly seen that this game was made mainly for consoles. Also you can kill your opponents pretty fast so it isnt very challenging. You get lots of medkits/armor throughout the game...

I think i didnt really needed to use medkit until interval 4...

Guns are awsome as in original Fear although grenades arent as efffective and your character cant throw them with a great accuracy.

All in all if you love Fear and Alma you should really play this.

I give it 8/10

Well what a massive let down F.E.A.R. 2 is. Most certainly NOT more of the same, it isn't a patch on the original. F.E.A.R. can be described in one word : "HARDCORE". Sure, the graphics are much improved (aside from the explosions which seem to have got worse). This has "dumbed down console version" written all over it. You cannot even lean in the game - something which really sticks out like a sore thumb in the heat of a firefight. The AI is terrible - I can only assume anyone saying otherwise was playing F.E.A.R. - where the AI actually came for you and flanked you. Here the enemies all just stay in the room they're in. They also continue to wander around chatting for a second when you run right up to them. Killing them is about as difficult as fishing out of a goldfish bowl - you virtually cannot fail to take them down in about 2 shots maximum.

Weapons also sound feeble compared to the original game.

Also not entirely fun is the fact you can barely tell what you're health actually IS, nevermind the fact that for me, when I pressed the "M" for "Medkit", nothing seemed to happen. However, I wouldn't worry too much about the fact you can't see your health - as you can take multiple direct hits without anything happening - your health seems to last forever before you finally cop it.

Atmosphere is almost as good as the first, if not quite as menacing, but it really doesn't inspire you when you already know how limp the AI is going to be round the next corner. That totally takes the edge off the gameplay.

I would no way recommend F.E.A.R. 2. Disappointment.

FEAR 2 returns with players playing as a new character who is seemingly being stalked by Alma. You're pitted against the Armacham Corp. and Alma herself.

The developers have not dumbed down FEAR 2 because "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The first game however felt it had more surprises compared to the second one. Still, it's good to have the good old slow motion back.

FEAR 2 is more gory than the first one, a point blank shotgun to an enemy will totally make his body explode.

Although the multi-player isn't solid, the single player will give you a run for your money. It's a nice lengthy campaign and also with the GamersGate edition of FEAR 2, you also receive the REBORN DLC, which adds more playability to the game.

FEAR ALMA AGAIN! In the sequel to F.E.A.R. you get to play as Sergeant Beckett, as you fight the evil Armacham corporation, Fettel's clones and escape from Alma's dreaded presence.

Graphics: Amazing detail with equal performance... this game is wonderfully optimized to run as smooth as silk in most systems!

Sound: Great! Eerie effects here and there, weapons that pack quite an "oomph" when fired... you name it: this is the game.

Horror factor: while not as disturbing as the first installment, Project Origin does still deliver some intense and memorable moments...

Gameplay: Solid, the AI's good and use cover wisely. Moreover, should you try out the Multiplayer mode you'll find it's nothing mind blowing, but still worth checking out.

Overall: 4/5.
