Farming Giant review

The game is a bit more then a farming simulation, once you finished growing it, or feeding it, that's not the end of the story like in some other farming games. It is very much like the old school transport tycoon.

When you first start you must decide with your limited funds if you want to produce anything from grains (wheat, maize ext), to meat, dairy products, eggs, to leather and other such goods. If you plan to grow your crops, you don't simply throw the seed on the ground and hope for the best... You must make sure the soil had the right ph level, as well as enough moisture, all of which contribute to your end percentage of growth.

You must then decide if you will sell what you have grown, keep some or all of it for the next crop, use it for your live stock.

ps I love this style of game, it is a shame that it is no longer a main stream style of game.

Now I'm off to be a cute little bunny farmer.

This is a budget bin game. Having loved "Industry Giant" (not Industry Giant 2), I was hoping for at least a few hours of enjoyable gameplay. Unfortunately didn't happen! The potential is there but as with so many UIG games it's seems like they developed it to a point and then dumped it on the market.

Most frustrating is the lack of a decent manual. There's a tutorial that gets you passed the basic game mechanics. And then there's the in-game help button with even sketchier info.

For example, the first scenario is to run a pig farm. To do so you need a 'butchery.' OK, found that. But to use the 'butchery' you need water. Well, there's a water tower but no explanation of how to get the water to the 'butchery.' There's a water pump, no clue on how to use it.

There is hover-text in many places that pops-up a bunch of icons that are supposed to be related to what you hover over. But you are left to guess at what they are supposed to mean.

I bought this game because I like simulators (especially farm simulators). If you want to spend a lot of frustrating time in trial-and-error figuring out what stuff is supposed to do then you might get some fun out of this game - the potential is there.

I bought this game a few days ago, and the amount of errors and problems are mind boggling. First, mapping roads is annoying at best.

The big problems start when you tell your tractor to harvest grass and bring it to your cow byre, only as it finishes, your grain truck brought grass from the city to the cow byre, causing no room for your tractor. The tractor just sits on the field and WILL NEVER MOVE. It has been stuck sitting there for 7 months.

It seems there are huge problems with the gamr engine when it comes to taking something someplace, where there isn't room, after the vehicle has left to take it here. If you have 2 trucks from 2 cow byres bringing meat cows to a task, and the first one finishes the task, the second one will CRASH THE GAME, because that task is completed and yet it has cows to deliver for that task. Seriously? The need to code in to auto sell the cows, seems simple enough. Same thing goes if you cancel a task when a truck is on the way to deliver something for that ask, GAME CRASH.

And another thing with tasks. I have a truck on auto deliver 6 cows at a time, and they deliver 1206, but the task is for 1207. The truck STOPS and doesn't deliver 1 because he was told to do 6 at a time. Again can you not just code in to deliver what you can and sell the rest? I missed a task and paid a penalty because I apparently have idiots driving my trucks that can't figure out how to deliver 1 cow, and sell the rest in his truck.

Other than that, and the random crashes when I try to save my game, you have created a very nice Alpha/Beta version of a farming simulator. I anticipate a patch for this game soon, or any positive press and word of mouth they have gotten so far for this game, will be quickly erased by the problems.
