Europa Universalis III Reformation Spritepack review

These add a nice level of variation in unit sprites. It doesn't affect gameplay, but does add variety making the gameplay more immersive. I'd like to see more sprite packs for the reformation period. It would be cool to see more native American, "Islamic" (being different nationalities of the religious culture), eastern units and even cavalry units like you see with Victoria 2 - to have Polish Winged Hussars, Turkish Delis, Reiters etc would be a nice addition for cavalry armies. Even so these are nicely done and a nice addition.

The sprites add to the immersion of the game and fit much better into the game visually with the higher resolution of Divine Wind and especially in combination with the new graphics coming with some mods. The spritepack pretty much does what it promises. As long as eyecandy is of no value at all for a player it might not be an essential DLC. I would not want to return to the original sprites.

Although well done, it does not add much in terms of gameplay. However, it adds a nice touch of variety to the middle game. For hardcore EU fans who want to be grateful to Paradox.

These sprites look so much better than vanilla units. For me they are a must.

The downside is: there are only new, sharp sprites for (western)european factions!

If you like EU3, than definitely get this sprite pack. One of the complaints I had before this addition was that the units looked too much alike between countries and between different time periods. This pack offers costumes for the time period in which the wars of the reformation time period start. This really helps with getting into the game even more when playing a european country around the time of the hussite war. Plus, I found it is really easy to get these spritepacks if you have saved up any blue coin rewards.

Enter the Reformation! This sprite pack changes the sprites during the sixteenth century. Since it's a purely cosmetic change and doesn't change the gameplay or flow of game, you'll have to consider if this is worth your money. Personally I like to see my game as polished as possible, and this pack certainly helps with that.

A collection of over a dozen historically accurate character models specific to the Reformation period to bring a bit more visual vareity to Europa Universalis 3.

The spiritpacks of EUIII are really nice additions to the game. You don't need them but the make the game look a lot of better. Soe have are really to short timeline but that doesn't matter. If you have all, the game in western europe is great! I hope so for packs of Asia or Eastern Europe.

It's only a sprite pack, so it doesn't change the gameplay. Probably you will only notice the different for a short while, later you won't care about it any more. Afterall, EU3 are not about graphics. However, sometimes you just can resist to make your game more "complete".

It's a nice model pack. Goes quite well with all the other ones, but it should only be considered as eye-candy. Of course it does improve flavor for those, who felt original models needed more variety.

A useful enhancement to Europa Universalis Divine Wind. Adding these sprite packs will eventually give the game a much better look. Here's hoping they do something with the Middle East, South America, and Africa.

Nice sprites. The new combat animation looks nice in combat, with attacker and defender giving and dodging blows. But the same animation is also used for assaulting forts, and it looks weird to see a single soldier dodging non-existent blows. Still recommended for immersion.

These sprites are a great aesthetic addition for any fans of EU3. This Reformation Pack really adds some interesting-looking units to the mix. These units are easily the most unique out of all the downloadable sprite packs. The country-specific sprites add a touch of flavor to the time period.

Note that these sprites do require Divine Wind, and players starting the grand campaign will have to work through a century or so before these little pieces of art begin to appear. Once there, however, players will be enjoying these sprites for another full century of gameplay, so they are definitely worth their low price. A great way to spend some of your Blue Coins!

Small graphical enhancement for the game. EU3 is great and all of the expansions and sprite packs coming along with it!!

I am always looking forward to the change of models when the Reformation starts and with this pack it is far more enjoyable. One of the reasons I do play beyond medieval era is now so much better with this sprite pack. In my opinion it is a must have along with the Medieval one.

This pack is a huge improvement over the vanilla musketeer sprite and greatly enriches the atmosphere of the game, making the Reformation come to life (at least a little bit).

By Zafer posted 26th November 2011

True is they look nice but do play EU3 zoomed to see them? I`ve just started :)

Remember to have 5.1 patch installed without it sprite pack cannot run.

You may live without it but if you play EU3 for a long time and want sth new - grab it!

Definitely worth the money, which in itself is nothing more than a cup of coffee. Another fine addition to the Europa Universalis experience.

Style in the days of religious warfare...

There are many, many custom armies available nowadays, such as the overpriced DOW 2 DLC:s, but the EU 3 spritepacks are unbeatable for their accuracy and scope. It might seem pointless to spend 2 € for new skins for a famously ugly game, but it actually is money well spent!

This, like all of Paradox Interactive's Spritepacks, adds a small -but very noticeable- amount of flavor and depth to an already amazing gaming experience.

Brings the 16th century to life

By supernova54321 posted 11th October 2011

This is a really fantastic set of new sprites - even more detailed and more varied than the Anno Domini 1400 packs. The German culture nations get a fantastic-looking Landsknecht model, while other Western tech nations get a conquistador (much more detailed than the old, anachronistic model that you get in 1399 in the default game).
