Europa Universalis III Chronicles review

Europa Universalis 3 has received many expansion, which I all bought in the course of years. But reinstalling the game might turn into a long trip: first the vanilla game (which I have on cd), then all four expansions... Chronicles combines everything in one neat pack. Just one installer and you got the game up to date. This was for a veteran like me the main reason to buy this pack.

For new players this is also the way to go: with one purchase you got the game plus all expansions. A better deal is not imaginable.

A playable historical encyclopedia

By Fred_DM posted 10th April 2012

Europea Universalis 3 is a game you could use to teach history in a class room. Its scope is breathtakingly large, its historical accuracy impeccable and its complexity unmatched.

What it does lack is better visuals and, more importantly, better feedback of your actions and decisions. Due to the lack of a decent tutorial, it's a very difficult game to get into. The beginning is particularly tedious because a lot of reading has to be done in order to understand how to play the game.

Nevertheless, for fans of complex grand strategy games, there is nothing better than EUIII. This edition comes with all 4 expansion packs, bringing the total content to monumental levels.

This game is the absolute pinnacle of historic strategy gaming. What it lacks in graphics it makes up with probably some of the most challenging, realistic and diverse gaming experience I have ever had in a game. Learning how to lead a country without getting killed or getting bankrupt might take a while, but it results in one of my absolute favorite strategy games ever.

I started my experience of Paradox by playing Victoria II, and I thought i had found the best game in the entire world, nothing could compare. Then i found this game, i proved myself wrong so quick when i saw that it seemed like Paradox put 50x the amount of work into this than they put into Victoria II.

This a truly a great strategy game, one that i would view as 'that one game' that contains EVERYTHING you want to make it a truly worthwhile game. This is a true masterpiece, and if you're going to try any Paradox games, you need to try this.

Europa Universalis III Cronicles is the last and best version of the classic Paradox game. From 1399 to 1821 you will lead a country trough the most revolutionary period of huma history: from the fall of Costantinople and the American discovery, to the French Revolution and the rule of Napoleon, the destiny of europe, and of the world, is in your hands.

Intro to Paradox

By velliacrum posted 15th March 2012

While Victoria II is still my favorite of Paradox's games, this is unquestionably the most robust game paradox has ever produced. The game is a Civ fans wet dream, with a staggering amount of nations to play and a large timeframe. There are a great deal of nuanced features to control such as economy, but it is possible to reign by military, making this paradox's most forgiving learning curve.

If anyone is looking for a game that is "more complex" or historical than civ, needs to purchase this game.

Yet another masterpiece from Paradox. Paradox's products have proved themselves to be great alternatives to other AAA grand stragety games like Total War series and Civ series. It has steep learning curve as usual, but you have to admire the amount of detail in its gameplay. The graphic is lackluster, but once you get past this, you will find youself spending tons of hours on this game.

Europa Universalis III - The Grand Strategy Game

By Qualcunaltro posted 10th March 2012

Europa Universalis III (EU III) is the best representative of the Grand Strategy's genre: a kind of game without the speed of a RTS or the "creativeness" of a random Civilization... No, this is a historical game, with a reconstruction near perfectly and a big complexity, but it has got also unlimited possibilities and fun for the gamer brave enough to try it. Luckly, in Internet and in the Forums (like Paradox Plaza) you can find guide, tutorial, mods and help to enjoy at the best this wonderful game.

this game has the game and all expansions inside, saving us 5 bucks, the game is absolutely awesome, my favorite paradox game ever, the expansions make the game much more fun and worth playing, such as the "hunt rebels" option that while buggy as hell realy makes the game easier for the player, the maps now are much more nice looking, magisters for advisors and coltural tradition makes the game more challenging in some way and a lot more was fixed or improved.

this game certainly woth the 30$ for its hours of fun gameplay

A Fantastic Grand Stratergy Game. Think Civilization but a hundred time more complex and better in every way. The best game I have ever played. The sheer level of detail is overwhelming and the expansions round out this game to make it even better. Children should play this in history and geography classes at school then they might actually learn something. Can be overwhelming for first time players although if you perseveer you will be a pro by the time your first country collapses around you. Games have held my attention for weeks but few have the lasting power of EU3.

I've been playing Europa Universalis III for quite a few years now and it was great to get all of the add-ons in one easy to load package.

This game takes a while to get in to it and to know what you are doing and what you CAN do. However, if you give it the time and effort it can be a really rewarding game.

I would recommend that you check out the Paradox Forums as they will help out a lot in the early period of learning the game.

One thing that sucks is that there are many manuals, each for it's own respective add-on plus the original manual. If there was just one updated manual that would be better. The game itself is complex and takes time to master. It's sometimes difficult to find a way to do things most effectively since I couln't find all details in the manuals but they are still comprehensive and helpful. Playing with the poor countries like some native tribes always ended up to being conquered since they don't have much potential. I guess that can't be called a downside though. Battles are not graphical but there is a lot of depth in the details that affect battle/war outcomes altogether. The empire management side seems realistic enough, for a game. AI seems to be fine, I've got my ass kicked enough times to say that. The game isn't hard when a strong country at the chosen year is chosen at the beginning, with a good long term plan.

I'll try to make it a bit different, and focus on the Multiplayer side of the game, which I have spent over 500 hours on.

While Paradox's metaserver isn't always perfect (I sometimes got dropped out of games for no apparent reason or the speed would keep going back down to 1x), me and my friends managed to circumvent the problem by playing LAN games over Hamachi instead of using the Paradox metaserver. I know some people over the forums seem to be organizing games on the metaserver, but if you can manage to get a bunch of friends (more like dedicated friends, since depending on your speed, games can take quite a few weeks to finish!) together on LAN/Hamachi, the experience is going to be a lot smoother.

However, once the little connection bugs are ironed out and you're actually ready to start playing the game, this is where the awesomeness starts. You open up the world map with hundreds of different countries, and you start thinking about where you'd like to play : Should we all pick Japanese clans and try to rewrite the Sengoku Jidai ? Take little German principalities and duke it out in the war to unify Germany (and constantly fear the intervention of the ungodly Austrian Holy Roman Emperor) ? Or pick scattered countries all over the globe and be pretty surprised when you make first contact with your friends' countries ? The possibilities are endless, and you can write the history of each game.

Playing with friends over a VOIP program really makes the game more interesting, since you can exchange information with your friends about what's happening and what you're trying to do, and it helps fill up the quieter moments where you're waiting for your money to accumulate or your infamy to go down.

All in all, a truly amazing game that everyone should give a try, especially if you can find some friends to dive in with you. (And I haven't even talked about the awesome mods that are available for the game, like Magna Mundi or MEIOU, which can add hundreds of hours to your game!).

The EU III Chronicles is what I have been waiting for since EU III's release 5 or 6 years ago. It's a pack with the original game plus all 4 expansions in one handy form. I did not like the original release of EU III nearly as much as EU II, but with the addition of In Nomine and Napoleon's ambition the game got much deeper. Heir to the Throne and the addition of the latest expansion, Divine Wind featuring an expanded Asian campaign has completed the game into the epic monster it should be!

EU III - Paradox' Magnum Opus

By Def_Zep posted 22nd December 2011

EU III may well be the defining work of Paradox' in-house design team. (Paradox is a publisher of other, outside designers as well, e.g., Kerberos & AGEOD, and it can be important at times to distinguish what they produce themselves versus what others make under their imprimatur.) EU III is wide in scope and a blast to play. Spanning literally hundreds of years, it covers the rise and fall of empires worldwide, with you in the role of Monarch, guiding the development of your nation through history.

Though long in duration, the game proceeds rapidly, and (to my surprise) the real-time process actually benefits the game, keeping things moving from decision to decision and preventing it from bogging down into too much detail. If you are a former CIV addict like me, you will be surprised at how much more flexible EU III is, while also putting more things into their proper historical perspective, like the importance of fleets and naval bases, and the advance of waeponry from swords to gunpowder. There is also a complete economic system, containing such diverse things like Merchant Republics and Protectionist nations, all diverse and distinct from each other. There are mechanics which are best employed by each one.

The best summary I can give is, in CIV, you want to play one more turn; here, you'll want to play another country. Highly recommended.

EU3: An excellent look at early modern statecraft

By hirnlappen posted 16th December 2011

Europa Universalis III is an extremely deep game, set on a global scale and roughly spanning the period of early modernity. The player guides a state of his choice through history. This includes diplomacy, war, finances and founding and managing colonies.

While the enormous scale makes abstractions neccessary, EU3 always has a realistic note to it. For example, social change does happen, but takes a lot of time. Similarly, one cannot just conquer the globe, but will face some serious negative effects when being overly aggressive.

While there are missions available that can have some impact on play, the player is extremely free in his choices. There are not even fixed victory conditions to meet; the player can set his own goals. For example, hegemony over europe as france by 1600, gaining the throne of the holy roman empire as a smallish german kingdom or modernization and defense against european would-be colonialists as an indian principality.

The closest competitors outside of Paradox games would be the Civilization and Total War series. Civ is even broader in scope than EU, and less interested in historical detail and plausibility in favor of more abstraction, simpler game mechanics and more randomization and customization.

The Total War games are smaller in scale and, unlike EU, allow the player to engage in tactical combat (which is done very competently). On the other hand, diplomacy is pretty uninteresting, and the strategy mode and especially AI is a little disappointing in depth compared to EU.

In my opinion, EU3 is the best grand strategy game about the period, and easily surpasses comparable offerings in depth. It does, however, take a lot of time to play. I cannot recommend this game enough to anyone looking for a deep strategic challenge and/or a look at what statecraft meant from the end of the middle ages to the napoleonic wars.

Europa Universalis III Chronicles review

By jobasha posted 4th December 2011

This is a great game. It is a strategy game, but a 'serious' one. The historical setting is painstakingly accurate, and, more importantly, there is nothing that takes you away from what should be the core of every grand strategy title: making big decisions and planning strategies for the success of your country. There are no 3D battles, the graphics are OK, but nothing fancy (the few animations present are actually laughable). Yet, it will keep you awake many nights.

Another thing I like is the balance EU3 manages to strike between detail and accessibility: the learning curve is rather steep, but not so hard as in other Paradox games, and you can begin to play with a certain degree of success right off the bat. The only thing that may be really overcomplicated are the economics mechanics, but they can be mastered, especially thanks to the numerous contributions of a very active community. By the way, by buying this one you gain access to the Paradox Forums (if this is your first Paradox game, that is), where said community is most active.

The Chronicles bundle is a great choice for new players because this game really needs its expansions, which add so much to the game, from a better map to stunningly detailed Holy Roman Empire mechanics, and so on.

5/5

A great expansion and addition to the EU-series. With the new spritepacks the game becomes even more fun to look at as you play, as well as the new achievements that gives some more goals for the player. The game has always had a huge appeal since you can play as virtually any nation during the era, however sometimes you end up only playing a certain nation over and over again, making it slightly repetitive. The achievements makes you want to try to play as different nations, and some of them are extremely challenging.

This is strategy game on as grand a scale as you will find. Playing through centuries of history with so many countries is incredibly overwhelming. The learning curve is steep and there is only a very brief tutorial to show you the ropes. That said, if strategy interests you this game is worth a look. Find a game guide online and try it out. Once the concepts are understood though this is one of the biggest strategic sandboxes you can every play in! The detail and the depth are amazing and the challenge makes victory that much more rewarding. This has four stars only because it is so complex and punishing for new players.

A great buy!

By ZechsMerquise73 posted 17th November 2011

Previously I had EU3 on Steam and all the other expansions on Gamer's Gate. Buying this really simplified the process of installing the game. I even bought a copy for my friend (who is new to EU3) and so it helps to have all the expansions in one convenient place.

The newest expansion, Divine Wind, adds a lot of depth and a striking graphical difference; the map is really nice to look upon. The achievements on Paradox connect are fun to gun for, although there could be a few more. The most fun addition to DW I've found so far is the Nomads. Nothing like streaming across Europe with a band of angry steppe people. And the new system makes early advancement with a nomad society fast and fun.

All in all, I'd say this is the way to go if you're either starting in the EU games, or you have a few of the expansions but would like to complete the experience.

This game is great for anyone who likes complex games and activities (though for everyone else it may go right over their heads). With alternate history being it's main theme, the diversity and uniqueness of each game played is both enjoyable and at times hilarious (like when the tiny one-province kingdom of Trebizond decimated the Ottoman Empire in one game I played). These moments are quite rare however, and the game maintains decent realism.

In addition, random events both good and bad effect everyone, the Holy Roman Empire can either dissolve, become a massive single country, or neither (as it did in real life), and multitudes of alliances can cause multiple continents to engage in massive wars. You simply cannot call yourself a grand-strategy enthusiast without owning this game. Even though I got it on sale for $7.49, it is well worth the $30 it's going for now.

Its a complicated game, but its pretty fun, especially in multiplayer. The only real disadvantage is that since its Chronicles, it automatically uses the last expansion, and there are a few mods, most notably Magna Mundi, which aren't compatible. Any Divine Wind mods do work, though. And the best part is that it goes on sale rather regularly, and its easily worth the $7.49.

Instead of going for objectives, Europa Universalis 3 just gives you a country and asks the question, "What would you do as their leader?" It's not too complex as to be impossible to play, but it is still substantially more complicated than, say, Civilization titles. "Chronicles" gives you access to all of the expansion packs at a very reasonable price, and from the time I spent with the base game I can believe I can say that the expansions provide a substantial improvement. The lack of focus may annoy some, but if you want a complex but not impossible Strategy game with a wonderfully detailed historical setting, then you basically can't do better than Europa.

You want to be a peaceful commerce driven nation? You want to reunify Italy? You want to conquer Europe as Luxemburg? You can do it. There is no main goal to attain, it's up to you to chose your path.

The only negative comment I would do about this game is the impossibility to colonize every parts of the world like in Victoria 2, there's still some uncolonizable "no man lands" here and there.

EU3 is the definitive RTS for empire/country building out there. It simply has no competition whatsoever. No other game really inspires the atmosphere of Medieval to Industrial era world development as this game does. No other game really has you feeling like your playing the country you've selected as this game does. The complexity of the country management tools and the myriad of events and decisions to be made really allow you to play around with changing history. There's nothing quite like starting out as the Netherlands and conquering your way to ruler of the HRE, unifying all of Germany underneath you and then wrestling control of North and Central America in the name of Holland. Watching a mighty empire run itself ragged with war and then splintering into its constituent nations after unrest breaks out and their armies disintegrate is fun all in its own, but then to be the one orchestrating all those wars through shrewd diplomacy and espionage is gameplay unmatched by any other similar game.

Perhaps the game's greatest strength over any other RTS is how you obtain success as a nation and how war is treated. Most games are geared and balanced towards war. Even the Civilization series with its many victory conditions, is still primarily focused on war. That's not the case in EU3. While you can be a warmongerer, you have to watch your reputation lest the rest of the world decide you're a rabid beast that must be put to death. Declaring war without provocation will arouse the ire of your neighbors and make diplomacy and trade problematic. So what is the alternative? Proper use of diplomacy and aligning the dominoes of royal succession in your favor is one. A carefully timed royal marriage allowed me as France to absorb all of Poland-Lithuania as my own, doubling my size in an instant. Mastery of the trade winds is another sure route to victory. Smaller nations like Portugal or Switzerland may not have the manpower to take over the world by force, but with the right focus you can dominate trade and take in vast riches, enough to push your nation decades ahead of much larger ones.

Bottom line is, if you even wanted to see what it would have been like to unify France and lead it to glory, satisfy the Mandate of Heaven with China, unify Japan, or feel the tension of life as Switzerland, this is the game for you.

Even though I just do not have the time to play this as often as I would like its is one of the few games that never leaves my hard-drive. Like an old friend it is always there to let me play a few years of game time.

With so much detail incorporated into the mechanics, it is a armchair strategists (like me) dream, but doesn't get bogged down in warfare too much. It's perhaps the most balanced Grand Strategy game across the Paradox collection, its where I first started (EU2) and where I invite you to do so to.

With all three expansion included this is simply an amazing package. Its one for anyone's collection.

Paradox Interactive is known for its strategy and "grand" strategy outlook into history. From Crusader Kings to Hearts of Iron their games focus on running the nation, and not on a single battle, or a single campaign.

In Europa Universalis III you take the role of a state, be it England or be it Japan, and make decisions that affect what the world can become later on. It is a grand strategy game that few even come close to getting that feeling. Your conquests early on may be undone by a France who is doing the same, by rebellions, by an excomunication.

There is too much to put in one review, and the 4 expansions that this game has had just shows how deep the gameplay can be.

To put it on layman's terms, this is the sims to empires. You rise and grow. Take on Vassals and fight with others. Befriend someone and be someone's nemesis every step of the way until the Napoleonic eras.

1399-1821 is a lot of years, and a lot can happen.

It also helps that the modding community is the best around, and makes the game have infinite replay value.

A MUST have.

EU3 is a great grand strategy game. Make sure you get all the expansions they add a lot to the game. Chronicles has all of the expansions, Complete does not. The latest patch has fixed most/all of the common crashing problems and the issue with the saved games becoming absurdly large and taking forever to save/load. Some people complain that there is no point in playing some countries because you will be destroyed, but I don't think that this is a bad thing. Some countries just don't have a chance to make it to 1821 on very hard difficulty but they may still be fun to see how long you can last. This game is also easily modable(much of the content is in plain text) and there are many high quality mods.

Great Game, it has everything, it has politics, it has warfare, it has conquest, it has econ, it has everything, if you want a strategy game, this is the game to get, it works great with windows 7, and a core 2 duo or better PC will run this game fast. This is the game to get if you are a strategy fan. If you where to get any game this would be the game to get.

Very well made grand strategy.

EU3 is one of the greatest grand strategies ever. In it you guide whichever nation you feel like from the end of the dark ages up to the beginning of the industrial revolution. You deal with not just war but your economy, governmental structure, internal policies, diplomacy and if you so chose, colonisation. While it does take a lot of getting used to, it's well worth it.

Very good game, with some lil bugs, like all games. In the begining it's very hard not to be defeated. You can have many hours of concentration and real strategy, not only military. Besides, you can explore, colonize, make alliances, use many options in diplomacy. The controls are not very good, but, anyway, it's a pretty good game.

Certainly one of the best grand strategy games created. Although it is more complex than its mainstream competitors EU3 Chronicles is by far the best and most accessible of Paradox's historical strategy games.

If you love in-depth strategy games then you will love this.

Again it is a really addictive grand strategy game from Paradox Interactive. You can play from 1399 to 1820 and change the history by choosing any nation you want. The economy system is great also in wars it is not just about numbers of your troops but your commanders and luck. It ıs a great game to add into your collection if you like strategy games.

The best EU3 experience you can ever have for such an excellent price ! (I got it @ $7.49) While the excellent Magna Mundi mod can't be played with this edition, there are still Terra Nova and MEIOU to be relied upon. Also, remember to get the latest 5.1 patch for Divine Wind !

One of the best games I've ever played (and my first game was Pong with a paddle, so I've been around lol) and definitely a game that you can lose track of time when playing. It's been a while since I've stayed up til 2 or 3 in the morning playing a game, but those days are back with a vengeance. Don't be put off with the scale of the task you face at the start- the tutorials are very good and the user interface is excellent (tooltips tell you what everything is and how it works). Plus, the paradox forums are full of knowledgable posters who answer any question, no matter how 'silly' or 'obscure' you might think it is. Just buy this game! You won't regret it.

Europa Universalis is one of the best strategy games, it require a lot of planing, you cant just attack everybody around you. You have to look for good allies, and always check if country you are planning to invade do not have powerful allies too. It is also interesting form historical point of view, because, after you have played this you will recognize names of many small kingdoms. I would recommend this game for history classes :).

You can choose any country in the world, but you have to remember that many of them are nearly impossible to play. They are to small, and have too many powerful enemies.

By a4rino posted 24th July 2011

This is one of my favorite games of all time.

The strategy is deep and detailed while still remaining accessible. This is not to say that there is no learning curve associated with EU3 - anyone who has never played a Paradox grand strategy game before should be warned that it will take a substantial time investment to learn to play the game well, but I personally have found that it is a worthwhile and rewarding investment.

The game is truly epic in scope: it allows players to choose any particular day in history between roughly 1400 and 1820, and to play as any country that existed in the world at that time (for the most part - the concept of "countries" during some of those periods was a bit hazy, and there is always room for debate). What follows is a wild ride of alternative history and rewarding strategy.

Any gamer with a bit of patience will not regret adding this to his collection. Further, the Chronicles is the definitive version of the game, as it includes the base game and all four expansions!

Europa Universalis III is a fantastic game with rich graphics and infinite playability. The game allows you dominate via economics, religion, technology or military - although in reality, you must always be at least formidable as a military power, lest someone come and destroy your other achievements.

The game lasts forever - which can sometimes be a problem for some games, but EUIII allows you to easily save and come back at any point.

Just to some it up:

PROS:

1. Graphics

2. Detail

3. Historical aspects

CONS:

1. Can sometimes drag on, especially if you're not at war

2. There is just no point in selecting some countries as you will be destroyed without a doubt

Overall, I am incredibly pleased I bought this game. It is a fantastic compliment to my Civilization 5 addiction as well, haha.

Paradox have really found a successful concept with the Europa Universalis franchise.

Pick any nation in whatever time in history between 1399 and 1821, and do what you like with it. If you want, you can save the game and reload as another country, at any time.

If you have played any Hearts of Iron-game and liked it, as I had before trying the EU-series, you will surely like this to as they are very similair to both visuals and feel.

Europa Universalis III Chronicles review

An epic game demands an epic grade.

Europa universalis 3 is, by far, the best Paradox title, and the most expanded too, reaching now 4 expansion packs and 2 game packs that facilitate its aquisition for new players: The Europa Universalis Complete, which contain the In Nomine and Napoelon's Ambition expansion packs, and now the Chronicles, wich adds the Heir to the Throne and Divine Wind expansion packs.

The game is a grand strategy at its best. You grab any existing country in the period of your chosing and lead them to glory (or doom, if you're not that good player) in a great time spam from 1399 A.D to 1821, from the end of the medieval europe to the death of Napoleon.

As any good empire-building game can be, Europa universalis 3 is very open ended. In one game you might see France becoming a giang empire, ruling not only a great part of europe, but of the world too. In other game, France might not even live past the medieval age and be swallowed by Burgundy or any other neighbor, and all of that in the hands of the AI. So the possibilities are vast.

Don't worry about micromanagement. The game uses a very simple economy based on products manufactured in the provinces and their value in the Centers of Trade your province trades through.

So, a center of trade composed by a lot of provinces with exotic products, is of great value, and to trade their you only have to send in the merchants. Success is not 100% garanteed, obviously. Your merchants will compete with others merchants of all the other countries and their success depends on various factors, like your technological level, reputation, prestige among other nations and so on...

The technology system is equaly easy. It's all based upon sliders and levels. You will divide your monthly budget among the technological areas, like Government, Trade, Production, Land Military, Naval Military and so on...

Each level in one of these areas will better your country's performance in that area. Levels of government will bring new forms to administrate your country, leaving the backwater Feudal Monarchy to a new administrative monarchy, or even switching to a Republic governemnt, for instance.

The trade techs level will enhance your merchants chance to be successful in the markets of the world, bringing more gold to you in return, etc, etc...

This is a highly recommendable game, mainly if you're into empire-building ones. Take a small country and transform it in a prosperous empire that will last through the ages, and be glad that there is such a masterpiece to take you for the ride.

The expansion Divine Wind, although concerned mainly the Japan and Asia, was a major improvement over the previous state of the game. Chronicles combining all the expansions is simply the best EU3 experience one can get and adds a lot of new depth to the game. Also the beta patches which are likely to turn into full patch soon will polish the game even further to nigh perfect state and I would certainly recommend it for anyone enjoying this kind of game!!

EU3 = Major win.

It is so detailed and so in depth, i'm still having a hard time getting to know every single detail. This game is perfect. The only thing that needs improving is the combat, which can get annoying when you're chasing down an army.

But seriously, this game is worth every penny. No doubt it will take weeks to finish a single game.

EU3 is one of the best strategic games ever. It may seem too complicated at first cause the number of options available to you, but if you're investigating your options gradually you realize that you can control every single detail of your kingdom. And best of all, it's very replayable, every game is a different story.

This pack allows you to have all the expansions available from the start at a price that's practically a gift. If you like strategy game is a must-have.

EU:III Chronicles is a game i just can advise to buy to everyone who likes Grand Strategy games, or has ever played a title of the Europa Universalis series.

Especially because all the Addons of EU:3 would cost a ton of money, it's advisable to buy this compilation instead.

EU:3 offers the deepest diplomatic and economic expreience a game has yet brought to me!

However I should mention some things:

1. there is less "action" in this game than in many other games

2. the game is not "easy". it will take some time to learn how to play successful

All in all I would say its a great game, a bit difficult for beginners, and this compilation offers an awesome cost/performance ratio

A great example of grand strategy game masterpiece, EUIII Chronicles is one of the best and complete game of its genre.

It lets your gaming experience grow little by little, like: "if you want to rule it, you have to play it". More and more.

Maybe the sprites are perfectable, but you have one kind for european, one for east european, one for african/tribal factions, one for middle east and one for asian... quite enough to me.

Strongest point of the game is its really accurate peace treaty mechanic, really balanced.

No micro-managing headaches, more focused on diplomacy and war strategy in my opinion is a game that lets you learn gradually how to guide your faction through the history you decide to write as time pass!

This is a must have for every genre fan.

A compendium of all the EU3 expansions, including the latest one, Divine Wind.

It really now hits the mark, that awful map from the first release is now replaced with a more nicer and modern feel, it really makes a good difference as the first incarnation of EU3 really left a lot to be desired. The Divine Wind update really is so good graphically that this alone is worth paying more money for.

It is not just a graphic update; lots more changes, neat additions, improved gameplay and a few more scenarios really polishes this fine title, and it appears that Paradox listen to their customer base too, this is clear with some of the changes to the game.

This release really is the bees knees...a good game enhanced over the years and this is the fine result. A++
