Endless Space - Emperor Special Edition review

It is a fun game. The race builder has plenty of good choices to change your game play each time. The empire building is decent. Where the game really lacks is its space combat. The battles are linear, you have no control over your ships other then minor stance selections.

This the most excellent remake of MoO2 masterpiece. I recommend it to anyone to anyone who loves the original Master of Orion series or simply want to get some nice 4X sci-fi experience.

Pro:

i) The graphics are -- in my humble opinion -- the best currently available.

ii) The tech tree is very well designed.

iii) The game -- and races -- are overall well balanced.

iv) The sounds and music are excellent.

Contra:

i) Lack of tactical space battles and ship design.

An excellent 4x strategy with unique combat system. Many mechanics adapted from the one and only Master of Orion series. An absolute must-have for fans of the series.

Great strategy game which is fun to play but difficult to master, offers beutiful visuals both in interface, campaign map and battles (the sequences being truley epic at times!).

All in all, if you like space conquest games, you cant go far wrong here!

Game is very micro intensive and gets very boring. It's in fact a 2D universe where ships move on a flat structure, like a game board. That destroys the whole illusion of it being set in space, where you can obviously go in every direction.

Once your empire becomes large, it becomes hard to manage. From playing a game, you become a full time employee managing your empire. Not very fun. I already have a paying day job.

Amazing turn based sci-fi strategy game where you control a whole empire trying to survive in the huge universe. It can have a high learning curve but there are plenty of tutorials to help you get the hang of it. There are many factions/races or you can even create your own. There is an amazing amount of detail put into the races and things like research. There are many ways to succeed in making your race the greatest of all giving this game almost unlimited re-playability. This game is definitely worth buying it because you will be playing it for years to come.

Endless Space - Emperor Special Edition review

Sorry everyone but i dont have any idea how this game can get 5 stars of every reviewer.

The game is´nt absolutly bad dont get me wrong but 5 stars? No never! At least now now.

I never ever encountered a so badly ceating KI then in Endless Space.

And here again - dont get me wrong. I know that the KI needs some kind of bonus fighting humans :P but that kind of cheating ... no thx no way!

You beginn in your Star System on an normal map.

Difficulty normal - game speed normal too.

After 40 Turns the first Enemie shows up.

Until now u got yourself run about 6 additional colonies and no warships :P u had to build colonieships and infrastructure. But never mind.

In 10 Turns u get yourself 3 Small Style Battleship only to notice that the enemie has 4 Battleships in his fleet ... and then that this fleet is only the first of 3 ??!!?

Although you notice that your max. Fleetsize is 5 while the enemie has a max size of 9 allready.

I left the game and see the gamestatistic ... and fall from my chair.

In the time u got 3 battleships the 7 other KI kingdoms get 20-60(!!!)

In the time u get 6 colonies the enemies get 4-11(!!) (even i only only only got colonieships)

In the time i got 12 population enemies got 12-39(!)

Sry i want to play a FAIR game at least in normal.

That is unplayable bulls.....

I repait playing a bit in other games and oh yiphi one time i managed it to survive... why did i make it? 1st i created run about 30 games until i ot a homesystem with 6 Planets, 3 of them habitable. And 2nd i got 3 good starting heros. 2 of these heros where Navigator Fighting Admirals. I got both to level 20 but this game was lame on the other hand :P These Admirals increased my Weaponspower by 140% my defense by 120%

I had two Fleets with 4 big Ships (4x4=16 Command points) and those fleets destroyed run about 2-10 enemie Fleets every turn no matter if thouse enemie fleet had 1 or 20 ships in it cause i get 0 ZERO damage. And if i mabe MAYBE get some damage i use Repaircards in 1 or 2 Battlerounds and im full in hitppoints again. So i feal like Rambo. I kick everyone... noone has a chance and i dont want THAT eather!

I want trilling games i want fair battles.

In my eyes its normal that if 10 ships fighting each other that 5 stay unharmed 3 gets damaged and 2 destroyed. In Endless Space there are 2 options - u get no damage at all and the enemie is dead or the other way round.

Also there are only 2,5 Weapontypes

Lasers, Rockets ... ... and Bullets (these are the 0,5)

Laser = Huge damage on mid range

Rockets = Huge damage at far range

Bullets = no damage at all at any Range... ok you can use them the first 40 rounds. But then never again.

Also i dont like that "getting stuck" at a planet with an enemie fleet.

If i am in the orbit of a planat and there is an enemie fleet only way out for me is to start a battle and flee there. The KI simply can fly away. If i fly from planat A to Planet C passing Planat B by the way and on planat B is an enemie Fleet i have to stop and kill it. The KI simply fly trough me.

Sry nay nay nay there are so many things i really dont like about that game.

Maybe i really get me "Legends of Pegasus" even that game gets only 2-3 star Reviews... maybe thats a good sign :-)

A classical 4X turn based game that gives you that "1 more turn" feeling. If you love 4X games then buy this game. It is that good!

The game keeps getting updated with features such as the auto-explore button that although not essential simplify the game.

Even though the game is fairly easy to get into (tip: don't play endless difficulty on your first game) it may take some time to master.

One of the simpliest and easiest to use interfaces for a 4x game, which works very well. It is still having some features added as I type this, but is a very good game as is, just will be much better with the new features they're adding such as auto-explore button on scouts.

If you thought this genre was on the brink of death, then this game is here to prove you wrong. This is the true revival of the 4X genre. For an indie game, it outshines even some of the best AAA games with its polish and easy to learn but hard to master gameplay.

For fans of the 4X genre, this is a must-have.

If you like 4X games (i.e. eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate), you will love this game.

The graphics are stunning, the UI is easy to use and still contains an impressive level of detail and the strategic possibilities are countless.

This game has everything Lords of Winter was (and to some degree still is) missing.

If you like the genre, this game is a must.
