Driving Simulator 2009 is a pretty good simulator but it is NOT a racing game. You are a driver in a city and have to complete missions, driving for others, delivering puzza, and something else. You have to respect the traffic rules to avoid tickets and complete your missions.
The graphics are good but simple, more liking some game of year 2000. It could be better.
You can use a steering wheel but there is no way to calibrate the wheel and pedals. in fact, I had to uninstall the Logitech driver of my MOMO, to use the wheel. (Windows XP installed a generic driver).
With the Logitech driver installed was impossible to assign the functions to buttons, gas pedal, brake pedal, even the wheel left and right, and there is no support to FFB.
I don't know if this happens only in my PC, or is a general problem, but I think that they need to improve the use of wheel in this game. (It's a car simulator, isn't? you need a steering wheel to drive your car !)
There are 3rd person and cockpit view. When you are inside the car You have mirrors, you can look to left and right, up and down using the mouse, there are functional lights: headlights, brakelights, indicators, reverse and alert.
The shift is a bit weird. you can chose auto or manual shift. When in manual, there is a neutral point between shifts. Ex: to go from 1st to 2nd shift you have to press twice like this: 1-N-2.
If you want to go from 1st to 4rt: 1-N-2-N-3-N-4
There is only one little, tiny city and a highway around (a circle). There are no humans in the city. Boring.
But the game is good to training if you want your driver license. Traffic lights, signs, plates, speed limits and others are considered in this game.
I think it is not worth the price ($19.95). I suggest to wait for a promotional sale to buy for less. Something between $5 to $10 is a good price.
