Dungeon Lords MMXII review

I played this years ago and enjoyed it then. I still like the leveling system and the fights are entertaining. I would like a markable map and better quest directions. I believe I found a glitch in that I can't start over with a new character as it won't let me get into the first town through the gates or the sewers. It is an enjoyable romp though if you can get past the dates graphics and occasional glitch.

i was full of hope for the reboot of Dungeon Lords MMXII as the original game had a few bugs here and there but it was still a great game the original GUI was great and the aesthetic was incredible but all this was taken away in Dungeon lords MMXII now the game looks to neat and shiny instead of orginal dark and gritty and this disappoin me alot so my advice to all is DON'T buy Dungeon Lords MMXII buy the orginal

Dungeon Lords MMXII review

I was one of the people who purchased this game originally, and I purchased this "enhanced" version in good faith that the extra time (and my extra money) would have fixed problems and added significant value. Oh was I wrong - I started having problems with errors in transitioning from area to area (in the first area, by the way), so I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Then I started receiving errors in simply loading the game. I searched widely for all game resources (saved games, etc.), deleted them and reinstalled again with the same results. I simply don't have time to deal with this frustration, so I'll just count my purchase as one of those learning lessons. Shame on these guys..

For most people, this would not be a 5 Star game. It has its issues, it's a low budget production, the graphics are nowhere near up to par with modern titles.

What this is, however, is an optionally cooperative multiplayer RPG adventure with real time, twitch-based hack and slash combat, and some genuinely epic dungeons populated by the random encounter generator. My first encounter with Dungeon Lords was with the Collector's Edition released some years ago, and despite some aesthetic changes, there have been a plethora of gameplay enhancements which make it more playable, even conventional for an RPG.

If you can get past the graphical quality of this one, it's a moody, challenging, and surprisingly deep adventure which should prompt a huge wave of nostalgia for anyone who has played earlier RPG games. The game does not hold your hand like modern titles do, with no quest markers above quest items or glowing trails to the people you're supposed to meet with, which I found incredibly refreshing and rewarding, especially in the expansive, secret-laden dungeons and fortresses you enter throughout. The fast-paced fighting mechanics bring it all together, allowing you to form a shield wall against an onslaught of bad guys while your thief partner sneaks up for a lethal backstab attack.
