A unique RPG

By johntonx posted 19th April

Divinity 2 was a hidden gem, probably one of the most underrated RPGs of the generation. It may not been as good as the classic first entry of the series (Divine Divinity), but it is still a good game with a unique feel. It is one of those types of game that never really takes itself too seriously, and this comic tone is unique among the typically dark and often lifeless RPGs of these days. And the fact that it let you be a dragon gives an even more unique style to this game.

However, the story ended in a cliffhanger, and so came the expansion, that let you enact revenge in those that betrayed you by the end of the original game. It added at least ten more hours of entertainment, even if the dragon was little used until the very end of the expansion.

The game-play is action oriented, and the game usually throws many enemies at once, requiring you to use the dashing to escape enemies more powerful attacks. The game still features the classless system of Divine Divinity, meaning you can make as varied characters as you like. I, for one finished the game as a warrior-mage with some priest summoning skills too.

Graphically, its quite good for its age, even if the lighting is a little weird. The UI is minimal, though the inventory system could use some additional tweaking. If you have many different types of equipment, it can get very confusing to look around.

This version also includes cheats, that can be used to level up and put you up against hundreds of enemies at once, but since that is not quite my cup of tea, I really did not touched that part much.

Divinity II Developer's Cut review

By mbpopolano24 posted 14th February

Divine Divinity is a nice game with a horrible name. The story is interesting and the graphic is still serviceable even after so many years. This game is sort of an old-school RPG, but I wish the battles were less frantic, or in other words they were turn-based. Likely the developers are taking amend to this ‘sin’ and are right now developing a new game on the same franchise entitled Divinity: Original Sin. It looks like a very good one and I am looking forward to pre-order it here on GamersGate. In the meantime, the developer’s cut will keep me busy for a while.
