Divinity II Flames of Vengeance review

By cynofun posted 8th February 2012

My only real complaint with the original Divinity II was the ending, which the expansion makes feel much more complete. The main storyline felt a bit short and abruptly ended in the expansion, but I still found myself immensely enjoying getting back into the Rivellon setting. Not getting to play as a dragon very much was a bit disappointing, but overall a solid expansion to a great game.

Divinity II Flames of Vengeance review

This is an expansion to quite an excellent RPG in its own right. Divinity 2 is another visit in to the facinating world of the Divinity series, it's previous iterations, Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity, were both great RPG,s presented with an isometric viewpoint (like Diablo), but Ego Draconis and this expansion are fully 3D presentations, Ego Draconis was quite a good looking game upon release and still is, hut the expansion Flames of Vengence is not only a continuation of the story, but also provides a graphic overhaul of the original game.

So, now you can replay the original game with better graphics, continue through with the FoV storyline, or you can use a premade character leveled up fully and just play the expansion.

While Ego Draconis got good reviews upon release, FoV made the game feel more complete and garnered the series more widespread acclaim.

I highly recommend this expansion for anyone that has played Ego Draconis and definately suggest you give Divine Divinity a try too, its like a cross between Diablo and Baldurs Gate, its sequel Beyond Divinity is pretty good as well, so they would be ideal ways to immerse yourself in this great universe, prior to playing this.
