    FEATURES

There’s something new in the air, and it’s more than the hum of hundreds of aero engines... As the Luftwaffe launches its aerial offensive, the outnumbered Royal Air Force is scrambling to bring into combat new planes that will ensure victory over a stronger foe. Will they succeed? It’s up to you, and your Hurricane or Spitfire. If you hold off the enemy long enough, you’ll be the first to fly the Hawker Tornado and Westland Whirlwind into combat, and enable the Empire to strike back before Reichsmarschall Goering finishes his breakfast. You’ll be rewarded with bonus missions, promotions, decorations, and a view of burning Berlin from the tail turret of a Halifax bomber. Join in the new Battle of Britain. Your aircraft is ready and waiting...

I always liked relaxed arcade flight sims where you dont have to control every aspect of the plane other than direction and shooting. Its one of the games that everyone can play to have some fun, i definetely recommend it for this price.

Im a long time avid fan of flight sims ranging from IL2 orginal release to the new HAWX. I am reviewing this against other games that are similar such as Heroes of the Pacific which is an older game to Blazing Angels. First Combat Wings: Battle of Britain is a arcade flight action game set in Britain during the infamous German strike on the isle in 1940. I know this time period well as I've read books, magazines, etc. on the subject and watched many movies about it. This game surprised me. It historical as well as the missions are real encounters the RAF had with the Jerries. Even though this game is a arcade game at its heart it manages to entertain you and give you a history lesson as well that should be present in more game of its genre. CW BOB has dated graphics, effects, etc. but to me it takes a good concept to make a game not it visual appeal and this game has that down to a "T". You play through a series of events ranging from the RAF's first encounters with the German airforce to counter attacks on France. There is even a multiplayer event but I was unable to find anyone present which I think its due to the games gae rather than its popularity. For $9.99 you cant beat this bargin if you just want to play a arcade game based on the Battle of Britain. Though this game does not compair in the scope of another similar game called Battle of Britain released by Shock Wave a few years ago that is a hardcore flight sim it has a plesant feel about it that is sure to give you a few hours of fun as its a short game.
