Interesting mechanics, but not as fun as the original

By greydmiyu posted 10th October 2011

Creeper World 2 moves the perspective from top down to a cutaway from the side. This allows the creep to be underground, bubbling upwards towards your base. Or more frighteningly, on the ground above you draining down into your safe area. It also removes the need for a lattice of power with the power for each item floating from the mothership to each component.

Unfortunately these changes, along with some others, moved the game from an excellent Tower Defense variant into more of a puzzle solving game. Each level might, or might not, give you certain abilities. Also each level may or may not be on the screen at once. At times it boiled down to determining the order in which to achieve the objectives and rushing to do them.

Is this game better than its predecessor? Maybe, instead of being 2d over horizontally orientated map, Creeper 2 is based on a vertical map, meaning gravity comes into play, I feel this game is shorter that the original by a long shot, but it definitely deserves to be played.

Creeper world was tower defense with a twist ... and number 2 is pretty good if your a serious player of the first then give it a try but to be honest the new side aspect isn't as good as the first games birds eye view plus all the level up to a certain point are so easy your left feeling "when does the game start" :(

an unique RTS featuring the enemy that acts like fluids.

Creeper World 1 took place in top-down view, but CW2 is in side-view and you have to DIG DOWN to work.

You are to control the Liberation ship, build reactors to supply energy, use them on other buildings, then have weapons to defeat the Creepers.

Creepers are, as said in first lines, like waters. they flow in gravity and gets tougher as they get denser.

Blasters and Launchers will hit and kill them, but as long as spawners are alive Creepers keep flowing out.

So you'll have to build the weapon called Nullifier to completely destroy the spawner(takes time and they are defenseless without Blasters!).

There's of course some more kinds of structures and enemy ingame, such as Tech Dome for upgrades and Repulsor for gravity-handling.

Story element is much better than CW1 but it's not a important feature on this game.

Sounds and Musics are quite minimum and basic, though I don't mean them as "bad".

Replayability? Great for score attacks and custom levels.

And there's "CODE Mission" that generates levels with phrases you typed in(exact same phrase gets you same mission for competition purpose or something).

It's Simple, Unique but deep RTS to play. Easily recommendable for $9 price range.
