Crusader Kings is not really Mac friendly...

By hessan posted 13th Dec 2011

A great game. While it is true that this is a Mac port of the game and it does contain both the core game and the expansion pack, it does not work as well as the Windows version for two reasons. First is the fact that it is much more unstable because this was not a port of the final release version. Not only can you not use the community-made patches that greatly improve the stability of the Windows version, but if I recall correctly, it is missing a patch that Paradox made as well. The second issue is that the Mac version of the game is not supported by the modding community, so if you are expecting to play your favorite CK mods on a new platform, you will be sorely disappointed.

Maybe the best strategy game I ever played!

In this kind of game usually you are no more an"entity"ruling for thousands of year, fighting tons of wars to add terrains to your domanins, and in the long period this is so reductive and boring!

now you finally are just a person! with unfaithful wives, brothers triyng to steal what is yours and dumb spoiled children destroying in a day an empire that took centuries to be made!

you can be a good vassal, triyng to reach the power slowly conquering and inheriting terrains, giving homage to your liege and to Lord, or just be vicious and plan with other unfaitfull lords a revolt against your own king!

Of course there are a few improvements to make reguarding battles and tables(and they could easily be taken from EU3,hope to find them on CK2), but I think this one will make the model for many games to come..

the only thumb down is about the mac version costing 3-4 times the pc one, expecially when the release of the new chapter i so close...

Best Paradox game i've played so far. It's old, and could easily do with an updated version, but the basic gameplay mechanics still hold up very well. A very deep and involving game to say the least, and one that will steal more than enough of a persons free time. The focus on dynsasties really adds a lot of interest and involvement to the gameplay compared to other grand stratety games. That being said, there is a significant learning curve to the game, but once you figure it out it is well worth it.
