The BEST of the Sid Meier's Civilization Series.

Each expansion packs add significant content to the game. The Colonization pack plays differently enough to feel like a completely different game.

Overall, the CIV 4 Complete Edition will keep you from sleeping and possibly working.

While Civ 2 may have more versatile scenarios, Civ 4 complete is the complete from scratch gaming package, Beyond the Sword is superior to Civ 5 in terms of Depth (aside from combat) and is a great game, while Colonization is very fun due to the unit specialization. A Great Edition Worth Every Penny.

If you haven't gotten into Civilization in the past, and are on the fence, this is the place to start. An absolute must-have. Just as good as it was the day it was released.

Just one more turn, into the middle of the night. That is how this game takes a hold of you. Fantastic gameplay and AI creates a winning combination. In my opionion the best part of this game are the opening turns, finding that first goodie hut, that first resource to build your next city near. This is still the top of the line for fans of Civ. Civ 5 changed the formula too much. Buy this game and you won't regret it, of course, unless you lose your job from playing and not sleeping. 9.5

The best one in the Civ series yet. Civ 4 with the expansions is simply on of the most fun and addictive games I've ever played. Don't play it without expansions because they add so much. The modability of the game has allowed several awesome mods as well. This game will use up a lot of your time if you buy it so don't be surprised if you look at the clock only to realize several hours passed by without you noticing. Highly recommended!

Civ4 is a great game, splendid graphics, and deeper gameplay than any of the other Civ games, including the newest one, Civ5. When it was released, Civ4 had more music packaged with it than any other game in history. This series has some of the best replayability out of any game I've ever seen. Check out the mods!

Civ4 was a big step up for the Civilization series in many aspects. However, I also feel as though the learning curve was much steeper than most previous versions and even moreso than the major changes brought in Civ5. Nonetheless, once you understand how the game works, the introduction of vassalges, corporations and other new aspects brings entirely new playability to the game. I enjoy being able to fund my armies be establishing major corporations which allow the city headquarters to generate HUNDREDS in taxes each turn - establish 2 or 3 and spread them out and you are set! :)

The biggest drawback is that religion is a major pain. Especially once you get into the higher levels, someone who would otherwise completely agree with you will refuse to work with you (and probably declare war on you) simply because of your religion. I am also not such a fan of being able to see the raw numbers for foreign relations as it takes some of the diplomacy 'guessing' aspects out.

Overall, another solid delivery by Sid Meier and his team. But I would encourage anyone new to the series to jump right to Civ 5.

This is quite possibly the most addicting game ever made. I've bought it a total of three times, twice at full price, and still think I got a deal.

The sheer amount of time you will spend on this game is both a plus and a minus. Do not be surprised if you start a game up when you get home and look at a clock to find that it's almost time to go to work. Also don't be surprised if you seriously consider calling off, not to sleep, but to play more. This game is addictive.

The modability of this game is amazing and ranges from full conversions of the base game to features that simply make the base game more amazing. Reccomended by me are the mods Fall From Heaven 2 which is a total conversion of the base game to a fantasy world on the verge of apocalypse and the BUG/BAT mod which adds a ton of new interface features that improve the base game considerably.

While the basic strategy is easy enough to learn you will probably want to go to a enthusiast website at some point to learn some of the finer details.

Civilization 4 takes what the old Civilization games have done and added so much more in every department.

Graphically the game it outstanding compared to the previous entries. While the game isn't in the technical level of Crysis, it doesn't need to be. It looks very clean and polished.

Along with new visuals are new ways to win rather than the age old victory through military might. You can now overtake other nations cities through influence (especially with the introduction of religion).

The game is only made better with the expansions also. They add more scenarios, civilizations, features and of course more reasons to never stop playing.

The game may be slow in its turn-based game play, but you will always be repeating the phrase "one more turn" even though you started saying that 20 turns ago.

The Civilization series doesn't need an introduction. It is one of the most recognized franchise in the gaming industry.

CIV IV is arguably the best game of all the series. By itself CIV IV was already a great game. After years of patching and with the two expansion packs that are included in this Complete version, CIV IV is simply a masterpiece.

If you like strategy games and you never played a Civilization game, then this pack is perfect for you.

I would recommend this game even if people are usure because CIV 5 is coming soon. CIV 4 is so good and it will take at least a year or two for CIV to realistically come close to this level of completness.

CIV IV Complete is one of the best bang for your buck games being sold nowadays.

Great game, great price. Get it!

Civ 4 is still a timeless classic and the complete edition is the way to go. You can play Civ 4 for hours on end or in as little as 30 minute blocks. Civ 4 is definitely one of the top strategy games going. Some people might be turned off by all the options and settings but the game does a great job of slowly introducing each of the concepts.

The original is an extremely addictive game with a huge amount of options for tweaking what you produce, when and how. For those who don't want to get immersed in the detail the 'auto' options are smart enough to use. I've not played the expansions before, looking forward to trying them.

Note on the download, I received an "error loading shader libraries" message when trying to play the first time. I downloaded the latest DirectX software from the Microsoft site and the game runs fine now.

People ... the Civ 4 game installed so effortlessly on my Windows 7 system that I knew that I had bought the game from the right people at Gamers Gate !! I mean this game comes in 3 parts and was expecting to intall x 3 ... but NO ! just download and let Gamers Gate well tuned machine install the game to my hard drive in ONE INSTALL !!! I am a very "happy camper" lol ;)

No wonder I bought the game here instead of somewhere else ...

God Bless you guys :)

Really great turn-based strategy game. I enjoyed it more than Civ 2 or 3.

It seems to be the most friendly turn-based strategy game for players who are new to this type of game. Game is simple yet deep and always for much customization.

There are many mods available for this game as well. Civ4 is definitely worth picking up for turn-based strategy players.

The only personal criticism I have of Civ4 is their combat system which is quite simple and it's not tactical combat like in other turn-based games. However this is a hallmark of all Civilization games from the first; they were never primarily about combat. In a way the 'simple' combat has an advantage in that it's quick to resolve, so it speeds the game turns up in a way since your not bogged down by long combats every turn like in other types of games.

If you love Grand Strategy Games and you've never heard of Civilization then you must of been living under a rock somewhere for the last 12yrs. The entire series has been revolutionary and Civ 4 is no different.

Civ4 has taken the normal Civ recipe and expanded upon it in several directions. More civs to play, leaders to be, choices to make and options to tinker. It's also managed too do all this while making the game EASIER to learn for new people, yet like all its predecessors is very hard to master it completely.

If you ever get the chance to partake in it, Civ4 multi player can be some of the best MP gaming around. Another huge feather in its cap is the MASSIVE modding scene. Some of you have probably heard of "Fall from Heaven" at some stage if you read gaming Mags or sites. This amazing mod for Civ4 transforms the game into something else entirely, that is equally as special in its own right (http://kael.civfanatics.net/).

Bottom line is, if you love grand strategy, or even just like it a little bit, Civ4 is a great purchase that will entertain you for many many hours.

Civilization IV is the best strategy game to date. It also happens to be my favorite strategy game, but that is my own preference for strategy games in general over other genres. What sets CIV IV apart is its design philosophy (echoed also in the game as a tech blurb) that "perfection is achieved not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." Put simply this is a fresh interface design, simplified combat mechanics which puts the focus on tactics and maneuvering over sheer numbers, and plenty of new tools at your disposal to challenge all types of gamers from conquest seekers to builders. Built upon this great foundation is a vibrant community of modders (people who use the game files to build upon the base game, or take a more imaginative turn to something entirely different) that work tirelessly to provide even more hours of enjoyment. In summary Civilization IV Complete is a requirement to strategy gamers everywhere.

I've played a lot of games, and I think that it's quite possible that Civilization IV is the best game ever made. It's hard to compare between genres, but Civilization IV has all of the elements that make a game great: It is addictive. It is cerebral. It is easy to learn and difficult to master. It caters to many different styles of play: a bloody warmonger can conquer the earth and have fun doing it, and someone like my wife can unite the world in love and peace and have fun doing it. The modding community is amazing, and there are several mods that completely change the way the game is played. This adds even more replayability to a game that doesn't need any help in that area. Overall, this will likely be one of the few games in your collection that you will pick up over and over again for years.
