Set in a futuristic utopia, an elite peacekeeping force thwarts the rumblings of civil war. But deception within the ranks has caused two members of the most feared unit, Dead Echo, to strike out on their own.

While the game is fun and relatively enjoyable on its own merits I cannot help but imagine how much more it would have been had it traveled the path of People Can Fly's previous release, Painkiller. The problems in Bulletstorm lie mostly with the fact that it is just too awesome for its own good; your weapons are capable of dealing out so much violence that they are utterly overpowered in the context of a modern day "corridor shooter". This game is, at its heart, a game designed to be set free and played with bloody abandon and massive body counts. It's an attempt to meld the old-school with the new-school and it just ends up reeking of missed opportunity for greatness.

Get this game if you love heavy action combined with humour and violence. Also, if you like it to choose between different weapons with a skillshot system rewarding for complex enemy kills.

Maybe you should't get it if you expect a long and very detailed story.

For me it was a great enjoyment, especially at the beginning of the game. It is a new kind of game.

Bulletstorm is the new entry from People Can Fly, who brought us the majorly successful Painkiller. The game brings you to the planet Stygia, where your main goal will be to try to get off the planet while battling hordes of local clans and mutated entities.

The gameplay is without a doubt the best asset of Bulletstorm. From the beginning up to an hour or two into the game, the "killing with skill" is pretty awkward. You're not sure what to do, or what to kick / pull / slide an enemy into. Granted, it is easy and fun to accomplish, but it takes you a few seconds to ask yourself where should I throw this lunatic or what combination of moves should I use to get the most points out of my kill. But as the story progresses and as your experience with the whole concept increases, it becomes more and more fluid and natural to come up with original killing ideas. You also learn quickly how to successfully achieve the ones that are suggested to you in the interface and how to get the biggest point boosts. The guns all feel natural and smooth, as well as correctly balanced. They are as much diverse as they are sweet. You're presented with the perfect arsenal to kick some ass. For each gun can also be purchased Charge Shots, which I rarely use because they will decimate almost everything in sight, making encounters sometimes too easy. Nevertheless, I can see how they would very well fit on higher difficulty settings. The ammo is plentiful and fairly easy to come by or acquire via points. There are a few bosses throughout the game. The mini-bosses are easy but refreshing from the frenetic shooting, while the bigger bosses and the way to kill them are original. I must say that I'm not usually a fan of long big bosses, but while battling those ones I was actually really having a blast.

Any game that makes you try harder to punish the enemy for points is worthy of a five star rating. Bullet Storm takes the cake of a full blown out laugh fest of destruction as it defines the zaniness that the FPS genre has taken for seriousness and brings things down to reality. It's like seeing Shakespeare done by Monty Python.

These guys always know how to make a fun shooter, it's extremely light, can get boring fast, they abuse the language way over the limit of entertainment, but it's pretty fast, straightforward, with a lot of crazy and exciting ways to kill your enemies.

Yes, its juvenile, yes it purile, yes, its incredibly over the top violent- but dang it, its fun!! Great graphics, great gameplay, not framerate problems when dual monitor is in use. Highly recommended.

A good shooter with innovative ideas, but lacking true replayability. Releasing a FPS in current times without pvp multiplayer is not the wisest of choices. Perhaps they developers believed their skill shot (very fun) system was a great enough idea to ignore pvp multiplayer, but instead it did the opposite, I wanted more and in the form of skill shotting other players. Coop modes are always a plus, but they are best enjoyed playing with friends, not strangers.

The single player is solid and something that caught my attention was the coloring. This game is vibrantly colorful, a nice change from typical dark colors in most other games in this genre.

I definitely recommend buying this when on sale. I wouldn't pay over 15$ for a FPS single player game, but thats just me.

Fun game, but linear as all hell

Don't get me wrong, I had a really fun time with Bulletstorm. However, the linearity of the game is really off putting to me. I'm not a fan of the CoD series since Modern Warfare for this reason (among others). Though the skillshot system did make up for most of the shortcomings, and the story wasn't half bad, either

Beginning with the pros of the game:

+ It has nice visuals, the game is almost flawless in every corner you look.

+ The combat is insane, mobs of enemys coming towards you, and you just looking for a new way of send them to bits.

+ kill with style really add something to the game

+ Ichi is the most likeable char of the game, and him should put as an positive

+command a F*** dinossaur of mayhem... that was awesome

now... the bad things about the game:

- gets boring real quick.... really... despite the weapons(that aren't many), the style kills (that has to do more on how you wish to kill a enemy, than the game to make options for you) and the plot (nothing special... NOTHING) the game gets boring pretty fast... all the fun you can get is how you want to play the game, and it's fun, when something more than a giant cactus and exploding barrels apeear in the level

-"fire and forget"... almost everything in the game is forgettable, the chars(not ichi), the places, and the various copies of some places, the enemies, the weapons, etc...

-so few weapons... the game could be so much more fun if only had more weapons... for a game competing and calling others of the genre Boring, this one made no effort to be better... looks like it gave up along the way.

-the enemies, that are not so many, and sometimes you just keep wishing more... of course they compensate this throwing everything ctrl+c - ctrl+v at you... endlessly

-the twists in the game are nothing you haven't see a bunch of times

-is ends showing that there will be a sequel... hated that...

Just my thoughs... I got the game here for 11U$ sometime ago... it was woth it by this price... if you see for more then 15U$, unless you are a Cliif fanboy or GFX lover, just wait till price drop... there are many games out here that can make your money so much more well spent

Raw, unadulterated fun with a great cast of characters, humorous dialogue, great level design and combat that is fast and smooth in a way that only Unreal can deliver.

I wish I had set aside my snobbery and picked this up sooner because this is the most fun I have had with a game in a very long time.

This is definately not your typical shooter.

Bulletstorm lets you kill with style, and this is pretty humorous at moments. If you feel like shooting below the belt, enemies respond accordingly. It's fun finding out various ways to kill the enemies. Pull them to you, strap them with a bomb, kick them a way and watch the boom. Its definately worth checking out.

The most innovative and fun shooter I've ever played.

Bulletstorm is a First Person Shooter that throws out of the window what the genre has become in the last 10+ years, and go back to the genre's roots of simple, over-the-top, gory FUN.

Add in beautiful visuals, colorful and vibrant scenarios and enemies, LIVE Achievements and Score-based competitive multiplayer, and you have easily the best game to grace the PC in a very long time. FPS fans will love it (as long as they aren't too spoiled by Call of Duty and the like, in that case Duty Calls is for them :P)
