Blades of Times Limited Edition review

The Limited Edition is with the Dismal Swamp DLC and a few more extras (artbook, soundtrack, wallpaper). Fun game, good controls (not just with controller), time manipulating function (reverse time), pretty heroine (!). If you like the hack & slash genre, (or the Tomb Raider series) it is worth trying, but maybe you can check the demo first!

This game might not be the best hack and slash in the market but what it offers definitely should give it a try. The game gorgeous environment and the puzzle elements of the game definitely help the player maintain in the game. The story is on average, voice acting is okay, and gameplay can become repetitive. The game also offers a multiplayer mode in the form of DOTA mechanic, player can choose to play against players or bots. There are also many unlockables throughout the stages for players to find. This edition of the game also includes the Dismal Swamp DLC which tells a certain part of the story in another character point of view. All in all, this game might not be the in par with other hack and slash action games in the market but if is definitely worth a try.

Pretty game but somewhat repetitive with its time manipulation gimmick. But beside the repetition, you sometimes get some spectacular fight moments that made it worthy for me. The story is shallow (but the girls are lightly clothed to make us forget about it), the controls are OK (felt a little unresponsive at time), and the scenery is beautiful and all in all made it worthwhile.

Good game. Easy to play.

Although I had some problems with the sound (had to change from 8 channels to 2 because the sounds were not working). Apart from that, still a nice game to play.

Interesting use of time rewind. Challenges/fights can be difficult to understand at first, but it becomes easier. Suggest using a game controller (this is a 3rd person game). If you like Tomb Raider type games, you will like this.

Good game, controls are pretty good easy to get the hang of, can get disorienting sometimes, the time system is really amazing, lack of story but besides that the game has everything you need in a hack and slash.

Blades of Time is a gorgeous game, and that's its main redeeming factor. The gameplay is pretty generic and repetitive, but the game never really bored me, and if it ever got close, the beauty of the environments was enough to be refreshing. The voice acting is sub-par but it's decent enough quality to not make you want to mute the voices. Ayumi's voice actor annoyed me the most, but the other characters have better voice acting. The story is also sub-par, and isn't worth playing the game for. Personally, I'd pass on the limited edition and just get the regular unless you really want it to complete your collection. The DLC is rather bland and doesn't really add anything to the story. There are no new powers, and you only get one weapon in the DLC, I was expecting a bit more out of it. It's mostly a straight forward shooting/hack and slash segment. The music, while not terrible is nothing special, so I don't see any particular reason to buy the LE instead of the regular version. I can't comment on the multiplayer as I haven't played it, but the game itself is a decent enough buy if you can get it cheap! I don't regret my purchase.

Blades of Time's actually a very fun spectacle fighter, which are all too rare on the PC. The unique gimmick is the manipulation of time, which can let you create clones of your past self to aid you in combat. Also, this is not a shoddy console port, as there are graphics options aplenty, and the keyboard and mouse controls are very solid (although I prefer the use of the gamepad). There's a demo available, so I'd definitely check it out.

Although the story in Blades of Time is a poorly constructed mess, the events you partake in are anything but. Maneuverability is the binding force that makes chopping down foes a satisfying endeavor. Ayumi glides across the ground like an angel with a bad attitude, and a breezy dash lets you dive into and out of battle in a pinch. Attacks are limited to two buttons, which means you don't have much variety in your moves, and there is a noticeable lack of weight in your mighty attacks. However, such limitations are not a detriment. Positioning is imperative and health is in short supply, so rushing in to unleash a mini-combo and then sprinting back out is a sure survival tactic. Button prompts appear over weakened foes so you can deliver devastating finishers, and these elements combine into fast-moving, empowering situations.

I really like this game a lot.

The graphics look really nice, the sound could have been better but nothing annoying, and i really like the gameplay.

From what i've played the controls felt good (even a bit oversensitive).

If you're into Devil May Cry kinda games you'll like this.

This game doesn't really distinguish itself from other hack-and-slash games (apart from the fact that you're a pony-tailed hip-wagging scantily clad girl (with which it nothing wrong)), but it has an unique feature, you can reverse time which is necessary for puzzles and defeating some enemies.

A drawback from the time reversing is, that gunning down enemies, reversing time gunning the rest down gets really easy (but that's just how you wanna play it).

Conclusion

Pro:

good looks

reverse time feature

good gameplay

Con:

sounds could have been better

not really different from other hack n slash games apart from the time reverse

Blades of Time, a rather simple name if you ask me. But appropriate too. There are blades, and there's time. It's not too bad looking a game, and the mechanics are mostly unoriginal, but the time rewinding is a very interesting.

The fighting action isn't too bad, but the voice acting isn't exactly the best, and wow does the main character talk to herself a lot. You're kind of stuck hearing it, but it's not gonna drive you too badly insane. The feature that is the most intriguing is the rewinding of time. This game has taken the idea of rewinding time and really run with it. Seeing so many duplicates of yourself is a blast in itself, let alone all the things you can do with it.

If you're looking for a game with a story, this one probably isn't for you. A story is definitely there, but it's all over the place, quite a mess really. You can get a vague idea of what's going on, but it doesn't go much further than that. You're probably better off just enjoying the game for killing monsters and zooming around swinging your blades.

All in all, it's not the best hack-and-slash game in the world, but it's an enjoyable experience if only for the time rewinding.

It's a decent game for the most part. Certainly better than it's predecessor. The game is a good buy at $39.99 too if you're looking for an action game to pass the time between a bigger title. The voice acting is the worse though.
