Worth even more than a mere 5 dollars!

By RomeoYo posted 16th April

I have not enjoyed a game this much in a very long time.

I played through on hard and just loved it then took it upon me to finish it on Very Hard and the many variables such as the various weapons and 4 characters each with unique playstyle mechanics. The music is brilliant, the level design in each level is unique, the bosses are crazy and Mega-Man like at times.

Just a great fun side scrolling shoot-em-up platformer with the funnest use of bullet time I've ever experienced.

Hoping for new content or a sequel/spiritual successor. The creator is a genius!

Worth every penny!!

FINALLY!!! A VERY challenging game where fun outweighs frustration (most of the time)! I had a blast with this game! Great story/concept, great gun mechanics, great graphics and some epic boss battles. Definitely worth checking out!

Hard but very fun

Even on lower difficulties this game is a challenge but it's very fun and I like the hero. It's more than worth the price.

Bleed Review

This game is one of the best platform games I've played in a long time, it mixes platforming and action at a really good pace and you can even slow down time if it gets too hard for you. If I would compare it to anything I would compare it to Megaman. You play as a girl called Wryn and it is your job to make here dream come true, which basically is kill all the current heroes so she can become the new hero, the only bad thing with this game is that the story mode is short (my definition of short might be different than yours) it's only 6-8 stages that you can play on Easy Normal Hard Very Hard and if you want to unlock everything in the game you would want to play it on all difficulties (except for Easy). The game also got optional modes like Challenge mode and the Arcade Mode and they are pretty hard. I strongly recommend this game to anyone that is a fan of Megaman or people that are remotely interested in the action platform genre.

Fun, but needs some tweaks

By Dwagginz posted 9th February

I quite enjoyed Bleed, doing the majority of the story mode in a single night (with lots of time to spare).

It's a mildly challenging (even on easy) platformer with twin-stick style combat, and it rewards fluid play as much as it does killing everything - striking a balance is best, however. The upgrade system allows you to buy and switch weapons to suit the level or your play style, and this also increases the replayability, as does the unlockable Arcade Mode.

This game isn't quite as fluid as it needs to be, though. Some of the sequences are stacked massively against the player (and not always in the 'fun' way) and when combined with the game's rather strange and wishy-washy jump function, it can make the game more frustrating and harder than it needs to be. The ranking system (based on your 'style', kills and so on) is also rather unforgiving - if you get hit once it will, typically, reset, thus making higher scores frustrating to get.

Recommended for the price, and don't forget the soundtrack is on Bandcamp (search Bootdisk Revolution).

Bleed: A Mugwump's Review

By MugwumptheGrand posted 2nd February

This is a fun little game. The story will only last somewhere between three to ten hours depending on your skill with side-scrolling shoot em ups, which is to be expected for a five dollar title. What really makes Bleed stand apart is the amount of thought that the developer has put into the game. Backgrounds, enemies, and bosses are unique for each level, with most levels having a mechanic or hazard that fits the setting. And speaking of bosses, all of them are incredibly over the top, especially on higher difficulties. Normally, they would completely obliterate even the best player with only fractions of a second to react and slip between a wall of projectiles or minions. However, Bleed also has the neat feature of an extremely useful slow motion mechanic. That wall of projectiles slows to a crawl as the character, Wryn, leaps through narrow gaps while firing her guns in slow motion like a badass. Finally, this game also has a modest amount of replayability. Each difficulty comes with enemy AI's that behave differently, either through different timings, firing patterns, or even new attacks that only appear on harder difficulties, making each difficulty a new version of the level. Bleed also comes with three side challenges: the arena where you can duke it out with up to three bosses at once on any difficulty setting, arcade mode where you try to beat the entire campaign with one life, and self explanatory time trials.

Ultimately, there is a lot packed into this game for only $5. If you are a fan of two dimensional shoot em ups or curious about them, then this an excellent game for you.

Perfect for me :3

I love bleed, the retro style I've always loved, bullet time is awesome, and the difficulty is satisfying when you finish it, not frustrating.

A very enjoyable and rewarding game, which may be too difficult for some. Its fast paced gameplay will push your abilities to their limits.

While the game is short it packs a massive punch. The game can be completed in normal in about an hour, however there are many reasons to replay. Firstly, it is very hard to buy all weapons and upgrades on your first run of the game. Secondly, with each complete on a separate difficulty unlocks a new character with a very unique way of playing. There is also an arcade mode and a challenge mode. I would recommend this game, and it's only £4

Short, but still an amazing game. For anyone wodering (probably no one), I never had any problems with the keyboard and mouse, so I never cared for trying the controller. The gameplay is awesome and I love it!

Great Game 5/5

Great game, Its awesome fun and has got decent graphics. It could be a little longer on the campaign but otherwise its 5/5 stars from me. For the price that it is i would recommend it to anyone; But try the demo first.

Short 'review' on Bleed.

By drazzeman posted 16th January

Bleed was, for me, an awesome game that will last for quite some time (even with a relatively short playthrough).

Gameplay is smooth and it works just as good with mouse and keyboard as it does with an, in my case, Xbox 360 controller.

The only thing that is quite annoying is that even though you play with mouse and keyboard the controller will still vibrate, forcing you to either have it in your lap or disconnect it.

The graphics are great and really brings back nostalgia and the toughest difficulty (very hard) is indeed, very hard.

For the 4€ I paid I was extremely positively surprised by this game!

Want a challenge? Play Bleed on 'Very Hard', go!

Review of Bleed

By Hyetal posted 14th December 2012

There's a lot of fun to be had here. The only complaint I'd levy is the length, which could stand to see some expansion. That being said, I feel more than satisfied with what I paid for it, which was honestly a pittance for such a refined and joyous explosion of a game.

As an aside, I greatly preferred mouse and keyboard over my 360 pad, so if that's what you're packing, I suggest trying both before settling.
