I don't really like FPSs much, games made by Paradox for example are my main preference. But this game's mutiplayer play is awesome. The realism and squad based play blow CoD out of the ocean. And you can drive tanks!

I play Call of Duty: World at War and the original Battlefield 2, so my review on this game comes from my experience from those. There were things I liked more about this game that the original Battlefield 2, such as having friends and being able to join the servers they were in (rather than having to coordinate with your friend prior to playing so that you'd be playing in the same server) and the exploding objects were cool too. The graphics were nice (though there was too much bloom), and I liked the rush gameplay mode. However, those cool explosions were too often though, as people would blow up every building on the map for no reason, giving infantry fewer places to hide, especially from those overzealous tanks and helicopters. The vehicles could be really obnoxious since they are everywhere (the prior 2 games I mentioned above were never this annoying with regard to the tanks/helicopters). My number one issue with this game was that you can not lay down. You can kneel, but that's it. Going prone (laying on your stomach) is just so important, especially since all the hiding places were blown to smithereens by the vehicles. The weapons are also overpowered, especially that horrible automatic sniper gun. you can use that thing like a really accurate, long-distance machine gun -- I hate that. This game is entertaining, and I still play it from time to time, but I will almost always choose the lesser graphics games (that I mentioned in the beginning of this review) rather than this one.

Maybe I was looking for something different, but BF just doesn't do it for me like other games do. Not to say it is a bad game, by no means, but it has too much detail for me to just play it like COD and it is too fast paced and too easy to function as military shooter like Arma2.

Still, it is technically a very good game, so it is 4 stars while it may only be 3 stars for me.

Got mine for $8 only. Graphics is amazing, gameplay is amazing, community can be a pain sometimes but most of the time the community is great. Even though Battlefield 3 is out already, I'm sure some people still play BFBC2 until BF3's price go down by maybe 50% or 70%. Overall great game.

An absolutely amazing game really. I loved both the single player story and I really don't think I need to mention the multiplayer gameplay. It is simply amazing. By far the best thing about multiplayer gameplay in this game for me are the destructible environments. All the blasts around you, buildings collapsing, awesome. An immersive experience. A must buy definitely!

EA and DICE have surpassed the fps (first person shooter) gaming graphics, visual effects, and intense game play on this particular title, so if anybody who wishes to play fps games for the first time, i would highly recommend bad company 2 to be your first training ground as an assault, engineer, medic, and a recon which is my favorite role in the battlefield...i think that's all..so guys if your looking for a game that has great sound (its dolby digital) intense destructible environment (powered by frosbite 1.5 engine) you can run a tank and destroy everything in its way...bad company is the first choice, great game great experience...=)

Asfar as these games go, I would say this is my favorite title of this genre, and the only one I still play. Hopefully bf3 will be an improvement and new and exciting unlike most of the sequels coming out and ripping people off these days. If you dont have this game it is certainly worth twenty bucks although EA is not making money off it anymore so it really doens't support it anymore. No bans for hacking no patches or updates, which is a shame.

The game is the sequel to Battlefield Bad Company. It spins a story of friendship and loialty to each other and one's country.

The bigger plot revolves around Russia and its intention to dominate the US in an all out war. The Russians have an over ambitious army colonel and an old WW2 secret weapon on their side, while the Americans have Bad Company.

Bad Company is a fictional US Army combat division where all the misfits are sent. The player and his 3 brothers in arms are part of this Bad Company and are well known for their 'unorganized, unorthodox and lethal' tactics.

And they use these, along with a lot of swearing and funny comments, in a variety of places ranging from mountain peaks, throught jungles and even large citys.

But getting there is half the fun, as the members of Bad Company can use to their advantage armoured cars, tanks, helicopters and even UAVs with deadly effect.

Ow and did I mentioned the almost 100 percent destroyable enviroment? I mean the kind where whole houses are rased to the ground by high caliber fire and trees are thrown down from grenade explosions. You can do these too...

In Bad Company 2, wild combat leads to stealthy takedowns and running for shelter during a blizzard contrasts with running through a sea of dunes in a buggy. This is the world of Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Now basically Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a crossover between Battlefield 2 Modern Combat and Call of Duty Modern Warfare. I can't really say that is keeps both these games' strong points but the overall experience I had with the game was very good. I would defenetly recommend it as wort playing and for being an AAA+ title.

The campaign is much more fleshed out then the original. With some intense but not too frustrating missions. It's fairly short and you don't have as much freedom as you did in the first one but overall much better.

The multiplayer is of course the main focus of the game. Instead of individual soldering and kills on small maps, you work as a squad(hopefully) on large fully destructible maps. The rush mode is awesome and although some maps are easy to exploit the intense firefights and vehicles are fun no matter if you are winning or losing.

The classes are easy to learn and well balanced, no two guns are really better then others just different. My only real complaints are the multiplayer servers are often laggy and you have to set up an ea account. Probably the best new modern shooter out there right now. especially or the price.

Although with the recent midst of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 dominating the first person shooter market, Battlefield developers DICE was working on the sequel to their 2007 console breakout Battlefield: Bad Company. Containing memorable characters, a unique style while pertaining to the series ethic of large scale vehicular combat, and fun multiplayer, a sequel should be anticipated. Now released it's indeed a hell of a good time.

Following a quick and surprising prologue, the player controls again soldier Preston Marlowe fighting with a rag-tag squad formerly of an Army's B-company (nicknamed Bad Company) After going rogue and escaping with mercenary gold from the previous Bad Company, it's implied that they eventually got caught. Impressed by the squad's activities, the military assigns them to a special operation involving a Russian terrorist and a mysterious weapon of catastrophic proportions. In return for succeeding, the squad is able to retire from service.

The first Bad Company had a comedic feel and seemed to have been influenced by the war film Three Kings. Bad Company 2 takes a more conventional action movie route removing some of the little nuances that charmed the original including the in-game radio (surf music during battle is awesome). The interaction between the squad is still retained yet much applied in a more subtle fashion than in the previous game. It's hilarious to hear conversations about Harrison Ford, the pronounciation of 50 Cent, and what would be the best mixed martial arts nickname for squad leader Sgt. Redford. It's up to committing some downtime to hear their comrade because of the game's much more confined level structure.

Unlike the first game's single player, Bad Company 2 removes most of the large scale semi-linear formula and takes a 180 degree turn. The choice results in a double-edge sword effect where although it goes outside Battlefield's tradition of big free-form action, the pacing is well timed and the action is much more fun. The completion time with the changes applied is shorter than the original Bad Company but the memorable moments throughout many beautiful environments kept me going back.

Some moments outside the gunplay and just seeing the mountain ranges, it almost looks photo realistic. Much detail has been taken care of for the updated Frostbite Engine with effects that I would have never thought would work on consoles. DICE did an excellent job in making a great looking game while running at an always constant 30 frames per second and allowing anybody destroy the world to their whim.

Just like the first Bad Com pany, the sequel makes use of destructive environments once again and increases by two-folds. Not only the walls can be destroyed, now with enough explosives, buildings can collapse killing anybody inside which is a great alternative for one of the multiplayer modes.

Without the gold, the Rush gametype follows the same format with some fixes including the defending team able to recompose and prepare for an attacking base. A smaller variant called Squad Rush is intense and requires everyone to work together on four on four combat. Versions of maps accommodate the mode as opposed to being tacked in. The conquest gametype originally absent at the first game's launch is here and does it job just fine. The last surprising mode is Squad Deathmatch where four squads of four members attack one another for the highest kills. That mode is great for a quick pick up and play without committing too much time.

With four classes specializing in different ways of playing, there is thought in picking one for a particular situation. Medics can heal and revive teammates while providing suppressing fire. Assaults use high powered rifles and grenade launchers to destroy enemy cover. Engineers are able to fix vehicles as well as destroy with rocket launchers. Recon units can snipe enemies from afar and infiltrate bases with spotting tools. The classes are simplified and much more accessible from the previous game.

Vehicles like in multiplayer as well as single player are threatening. Along with the usual tanks and helicopters, newly added is a small unmanned aerial vehicle which can provide missile support and suppression fire by means of a machine gun from above. For an attacking team, it's a godsend while the defensive side can feel overwhelmed if not destroyed.

The multiplayer grabs some elements experimented with downloadable Battlefield 1943 including squad memb er spawining which helps in very tight situations. It helps improve the communication and cooperation factor of Battlefield which is the key to success as opposed to running and gunning.

There is also unlocks that seem to be grabbed from Modern Warfare 2 but with a twist. Each experience gained in a class is added to getting a class-based upgrade including kits and weapons. Included are all kit perks and weapons for which someone who would like to go all out with a Thompson submachine gun while looking like a recon class is great.

Even with an emphasis in multiplayer (the box art says "Defining Online Warfare") and a single player that is lacking in length, the overall package in Bad Company 2 is excellent. It's a great alternative for people who want to try other high profile shooters in the market now besides Modern Warfare 2. There is enough variety and charm which will keep me going back for more building destruction online or offline.

I have been a fan of the Battlefield series ever since Battlefield 2 came out for the PC. Battlefield Bad Company 2 is the second Battlefield to have a story, which is actually pretty good for a game that is multiplayer focused. The multiplayer is what really shines on Bad Company 2. Multiplayer is some of the best I have seen. The weapons feel powerful and have a bit of weight to them. When a player sees another player the player that shoots first usually wins the battle. The multiplayer is also intensified by the fact that the game handles 32 players and has vehicles like tanks and helicopters on large maps.

I recommend this game to any one who like more hardcore type of shooters and a more realistic feel to the controls and gameplay.

First of all, im not a FPS fan. I enjoy FPS but im not a shooter maniac. But this game... o man, i really enojoy the campgaing. In solo mode its a great adventure, a bit linear yes, but great. The voice acting , the script , all its carefully made to make you enjoy a great experience.

The graphics are really nice, you can enjoy the calm moments looking at the environments that go froms artic to desert, and also jungles , islands, etc.

Sound its great too, and creates an inmersive atmosphere whit bullets passing over your heard every time.

But the great deal its the MULTIPLAYER. Its almost perfec, engaging, the leveling system its awesome. And the way you have too cooperate with your squad to archieve points its really well implemented.Multiplayer tend to be a new experience every time you play. With 5 classes of soldier to choose from an lots of vehicles to drive. When you start to unlock thing you will be with a lot of weapons and stuff in no time. Its the best multiplayer ever, belive me.

I love this game, you noticed?.

I was some what reluctant to buy this game. I wasn't sure wether it wouldn't run on my laptop but thankfully i needn't have worried. I'm happy to see that the fog of war is now gone that had ruined many of the Battlefield series to me. The game single player wise is worth the play through but multiplayer is were the game takes its real stance. Even a year on and its still going strong. The thing that bothered me the most in multiplayer was the rediculous amount of smoke which can ocaisionly slow the frame rate down a bit. Other then that its a well worth game to add to anyone collection.

First class game. Graphics are excellent, explosions, smoke and debris very realistic. The UI is minimal yet informative and the campaign keeps you interested in a variety of locations. Have a decent card, I have a 5750 with max settings @ 1440x900 and getting minimum 30fps which is great. Sound quality is awesome, each weapon has unique muzzle sounds and depending on environment, may include echoes in canyons or rooms. Online play is nearless endless with stats, achievements and upgrades to your arsenal. Would recommend this game to everyone. A+

Do you know what DICE is good for? Making great Multiplayer FPS. If you head into the multiplayer thinking it's another CoD like gameplay, then you are so wrong, though you will realise that when you get killed for 50 times trying to act like lone wolf.

First thing first, the attractiveness of the game lies in the multiplayer. If you were hoping for epic single player story, then you are better off with CoD 4 : Modern Warfare. I treat the single player as target practice, letting me know which gun suits my taste. Other than that, there's no reason to head back into single player.

In Multiplayer however, this game is at it's best. There's 3 modes in it, Team Deathmatch, Conquest, and Rush. The first 2 are self-explanatory, while the 3rd one is the most enjoyable mode for me. One team defending 2 objects in a round, while another team tries to blow the 2 objects. Defender team have to reduce the ticket count of the offender to zero in order to win. If the defender lose the 2 object, they fall back to another base, and deja vu all over again.

You might think that's boring. You forgot to factor in the destructible buildings. And that, my friend, changes all the strategy. A camper hiding in that building? Blow that building to ashes and dust then. There will never be a constant cover. Anything can be blown apart, giving enough bullets or bombs. If that wall is between you and victory, there's no reason to let that wall standing. Let that tired wall sleep on the ground.

Long story short. Watching the building crumble beneath you shells is just plain fun, not to mention the poor guys trapped inside will be crushed to flat meat by the building. BUY THIS GAME NOW.

Battlefield Bad Company 2, like other Battlefield games, is meant mostly for multiplayer, but I want to say something about singleplayer. It's very funny, but it has no story. Yes, the bomb, save the world etc... so after 10-11 missions you start asking yourself why. Why should I keep on walking? Why should I keep on firing? Why should I keep on respawning? Why should I keep on playing? Yeah, go, fire, die, go, fire, die. I prefer BF to Cod, but I think MW1 campaign was better, more interesting and more various.

Nothing to say about multiplayer, which is one of the best thousands meters above cod's.

As a matter of fact, there aren't many people that haven't enjoyed single player here. But you wanted a review, here is it.

I have played both Battlefield 1 & 2 with their accompanying expansion packs, and all I can say is that this is an entirely different game. Unlike the original series, this is an adventure game. You are with a group of four guys most of the time following their orders only. The only thing that you do on your own is determine is which enemy you shoot first. You can't swing around behind the enemy and become a hero. The front end approach is all you got (or that I found). Most of your adventure is on foot. A few times you drive a vehicle, a few times you ride in a helicopter (firing at the enemy) and once you pilot a helicopter and drive a tank. You can destroy most buildings, and almost ever bit of scenery that you see if you are like destroying things. The replay value on the missions is kind of poor, because there is really only a few ways to get through the enemy.

What I liked the most was being able to blow up almost anything. What I liked the least was constantly being told what to do rather than being able to form my own strategies.

The graphics and sound were top notch. The story is okay, but not original. The characters are likeable. I rate this game three stars.

The unlock system and leveling system are a great feature pushing you to play well and giving you a reason to keep playing. The sounds are superb and graphics excellent for a game not requiring an overly powerful system.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a very high in depth Strategic multi-player Game.

As far as I am concerned this game in multi-player is just complete awesomeness. It makes you think tactical and that is very good cause not other FPS games do that. I haven't yet played the Single Player Campaign, because multi-player has just kept me off of task.

I have to admit that Dice did bring some really great content to this game, such as spawning where you're teammates are. It is a really great idea. So gamers can't really get mad at the game because they are the ones to choose where they wanted to spawn at.

This game takes some skill, but after you play it after a while you will get used to it, trust me. I just got the game last night and i'm already addicted to it and it's so fun.

Some advantages of this game in multi-player are creating your own squad. I met up with some guys last night and I made a squad and we are really good. So if you choose you're squad make sure it is a good one because it can affect you're Stats.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 review

By mugwump posted 24th December 2010

I enjoyed Battlefield 2 when it was released but had been hesitant to pick up Bad Company based on info I'd read on various forums about how the scale of the game was being condensed.

When Gamersgate offered BC2 on sale, I decided to take the plunge. While it's not a terrible game, I feel the devs have taken it in the wrong direction.

Battlefield 2 was already a rather shallow, twitch-shooter to begin with and BC2 furthers that trend. The single player story is rather uninteresting and the missions are linear, close range run-and-gun affairs. The friendlies that accompany you in the missions do little to aid you so you always end up leading the way and taking on the bulk of the combat by yourself. The combat is your bog-standard COD-type affair, with lots of spray and pray from out in the open. They've removed the ability to go prone or lean around corners and the maps are essentially glorified corridors. There's very little opportunity to flank enemies to use stealth to get past them as you constantly receive warnings informing you that you're leaving the mission area and have only 10 seconds to return.

The pacing of each mission is poor as they are constantly broken up by cutscenes which reposition you on the map once they end. Additionally, the game will sometimes kill you with no indication as to why if you stray too far from the rest of your squad. It can be quite frustrating.

Graphically, the game is so-so. Draw distances are short with lots of fog obscuring the distance. Shadows sometimes look pixellated and jaggy. In the first mission, the tracks on the tanks aren't animated which looks a little goofy. There are also problems with some of the weapons. Hand grenades on uniforms are the old WWII pineapple type despite the fact that the game takes place in modern day. The cockpit of the Blackhawk looks more like a 747 with lots of panels and gauges but no actual controllers.

Sound is decent but voices sometimes sound muffled when they shouldn't be, almost as though the engine is miscalculating distance from the player to the person talking in game.

Multiplayer is where the game is supposed to shine but I guess I'm late to the party. The game unlocks perks and features as you complete certain goals. It seems like the multiplayer universe is inhabited my a bunch of rabid medics carrying light machineguns with sniper scopes who will gleefully drill you from across the map.

Supposedly the Vietnam add-on fixes this, but I'd like to see them re-balance the main game as well.

If you were a hardcore BF2 player like me, you should appreciate the improvements to BFBC2. There's gameplay tweaks, a great sound system, and a ton of visual upgrades. To get it all, you really should have a Vista or Win7 operating system, and a decent cpu/video card, but the settings do let you turn things down.

Also added are new game modes in multiplayer, squad and deathmatch, making the replay value even higher. Not to mention the full single player campaign that is MUCH improved over BF2, and rivals the COD series.

You really can't beat the price here at Gamersgate too. With a few more updates to fix a few minor bugs and tweak the GUI a bit, Dice and EA will have a winner here for years to come.
