Airline Tycoon is among the best tycoon games i have ever played, funny animations, smooth graphics and simple yet awesome gameplay . This is miles better than the currently released sequel airline tycoon 2 in many ways. The deluxe edition sold here is a rare one and adds more content to the base game. The game has got tons of missions with changing conditions which is awesome to play. there is also a free form game which is the survival of the toughest which could go on for months. The game has some great midi music, never seen such innovation in game made in 1999 , the game has cool items like laptops, cellphones and many hidden items that can be used and is very fun. If the competitors get too tough you can start to sabotage them :D. This game is absolutely must buy for tycoon fans , has some great planes and routes to choose from ,buy it instead of airline tycoon 2.

I love this game! I played it a while back close to when it first came out and now the ability to download via Gamersgate makes it much easier to attain. While the graphics are pretty old school 2-D stuff they are still colorful and do the job. The sound is pretty straight forward and doesn't really add or take away from the game. The heart of this game really is the basic premise of running a airline by setting flights up through the travel desk and making sure you leave enough room for them all to be completed. If you complete them properly you earn money, if you fail to do so you will you lose the money for the flight and be responsible for paying a pretty hefty contract termination fee. The game is made up mostly of this back and forth but it is surprisingly fun. I would recommend this game to anyone that enjoys a quick strategy game that doesn't take itself too seriously or to anyone that may have a even a fleeting interest in management simulations. Give it a shot, I think it is well worth the price of admission. While you are at it take a look at Airline Tycoon 2. This was just released and follows the mold of the first game relatively closely.

Been wanting to play an airline game for a long time. Remember the old AIR BUCKS? Well this is about as close to that as possible. Graphics are dated and the game feels a bit tedious after a while. I was able to take over a company and buy/sell airplanes. Haven't played long enough to be able to buy any of my planes that I designed... guess will have to wait for that. There is enough here for you to spend some hours. You will get your money's worth. Airline Tycoon 2 is coming out in OCT. 2011 and is 3D but looks about the same otherwise. This one runs perfectly well on Windows 7... no issues, installed and ran like a charm.

A fun game. I played this game hours on end. To play the game as best as you can, you will need a notepad next to your computer to keep track of your flights. The ingame option for this just doesn't work as fast. Hire a informer. He will tell you when the other tycoons issue more stock. Buy these and you will by able to get your 50% and sell their company. This way you'll have less of compatition and get more money. Don't buy lines until you have enough money to buy extra planes! After a while you'll get fet up but you can't resist playing the game later on.

One of the funniest games I've played

I once bought Airline Tycoon First Class, a quite old game. I played many many hours, but unfortunately the CD got damaged. Luckily I found this site, looking for a replacement for ATFC. I bought this, which has more features than ATFC. Of the CD version, only 5000 were distributed, so this is a quite unique game as well. It's really funny and once you know all the tips and tricks, you will enjoy it even more. Good luck beating your opponents!

A real good game which feels like a typical Iphone game. The funny part is the micro management you need to do. Like getting orders and schedule them in your order book, buy new planes, work with your airlines image and so on. Cute graphics and awesome midi music! The game will be monotone after a while, but the first hours make the game well worth to buy!

I had some troubles starting the game with Windows 7, but comaptible mode (Win 95/ME) on the exe file made it start.

This game was one of my favorites at the turn of the century. I remember playing it so much, that I wore out the CD from overuse. Although ultimately it is a business simulation, the game offers several other gameplay elements that make it more than that, and a lot of fun as well.

For example, instead of realistic graphics, the game went for a cartoonish graphical design. On top of that, instead of it being a spreadsheet game in which you make all of your decisions in the different screens, you have an avatar that you control, and there are different areas of the airport that you need to walk to in order to do different things.

You also have 3 competitors which are represented by 3 other avatars. This is where the game gets interesting. Whereas in other business simulators your competitors will simply try to beat you economically, in this game, you and your competitors have the option to sabotage each other. This can be both frustrating and fun at the same time, since you never know what will happen in a particular day. There are ways to protect yourself against such deeds, but they will cut into your bottom line, so you have to determine a balance between profitability and security.

Beyond that, since the game was released originally in 1999, it does look a bit dated, and it's not widescreen. The music is in midi, and the graphics are sprite based.

Still, the game is a lot of fun, and I'm happy to be able to play the game once again after so many years.

This game is an "old" classic.

Its really entertaining and there and there are tons of houres of game play.

Once you get to know the game you will find out there are many secret things you can do, like sabotage or finding different things in the airport that you can use to your advantage.

The game is about running your own airline but the most fun part is simply to sabotage the other airlines to get an advantage.

If you happen to have Airline Tycoon Evolution, save your money. With the exception of a few added cities, this is the same game. Overall, I enjoy the game in spite of some frustrating features. Designing planes is fun, but all the planes I design take a lot more crew members to fly them. They are also more expensive for the most part. I have only created two designs that are better than what I can buy because they are bigger (600 max). The fuel purchase system is really cumbersome. If you have a nice size fleet, you are going to need to buy at least 1000 fuel tanks. Since you can only buy them 10 at time and have to go through the same conversation each time, it's really tedious. I only play the free game and the AI really stinks. Just about the time I really begin to make money, they go bankrupt. You can keep playing from that point, but it seems kind of pointless.

Airline Tycoon Deluxe review

Airline tycoon Deluxe is a new take on tycoon games. while most games of this type give you the overall view with everything you need a click or two away, Airline Tycoon brings the human component of running an airline to light. Finding flights to fly, buying equipment, managing money, and even hiring and firing personnel are all handled at different locations within the airport. Suddenly how fast you can get there and who gets there first matter because your competitors are after some of the same items. This keeps the game interesting throughout, even in freeplay mode. Also, the 3 different campaigns vary widely in tasks and will keep you busy for a long time. There are some downsides though. While the campaigns do increase in difficulty as you progress, in freeplay mode there is only one difficulty. Also, your handy dandy pseudo consultant has a tendency to repeat some tips and on other days have nothing new for you or even out of date tips/comments (in relation to the action commented on). The graphics are nothing to sing about, and what you can is is fairly limited, the airport really doesn't change with time. The sabatoge vs security is over simplified and can leave you lacking without warning. The ability to design your own plans is very useful, and can give you better planes that exist/included. But this also is very simplified and will leave some players wanting more options. Overall a good game if you have interest in the subject.
