ArmA 2 Private Military Company

One year after British and coalition armed forces successfully quelled the insurgent uprising in Takistan, the NATO Green Sea deployment is in the process of a strategic drawdown of its combat troops in the region. Private military contractors shoulder the burden of the increased workload, with competition rising between the multinational organisations for lucrative security contracts. Private Military Company, ION, Inc. ArmA 2 Private Military Company review

More of the same...but honestly this is a good thing. This add on is a little bit sparse. However, the stuff it does add is quality. I absolutely loved the additional vehicles and weapons.

The campaign added is...well...short and does seem a little bit rushed. And there aren't any added missions. And hopefully you're not offended by language.

HOWEVER...if you enjoyed Arma 2 and all the other Arma stuff, I guarantee that this is worth 9.99 for some more soldiering.

Very weak DLC. IMO it's easily the worse product/addon/DLC ever released by BIS. Most of the weapons are reskins of existing weapons, only two new vehicles (one SUV with a Minigun and a KA-60 helicopter) and a campaign that tries to make you feel like you're playing Call of Duty or some similar arcade FPS game.

The only good thing that this DLC has is that the campaign (despite being "arcadish") is playable in Co-OP multiplayer (2 players).

I bought this for high definition player models on DayZ, but did give the actual game a try. Pretty similar gameplay to the other ARMA II campaigns (which is not bad), but I found the characters kind of annoying.

A small addon for ArmA 2, this includes a new campaign which is different from the original, as in this case you play the role of a Private Military Operator. While not over the top, you do get the new vehicles and weapons to play in the editor and make you own missions (one of the best features of ArmA 2).

If you are one of the many players who are trying the DayZ modification, then by purchasing this addon, you will get the benefit of high detail textures for your character in the mod.

ArmA 2 PMC is an additional campaign together with some new units, all in all not that much but still a good product which is definitely able to provide more content for any ArmA 2 fan.

This is a different idea for a DLC and I liked it. It plays different from the main campaign and many rate it as the best DLC there is for Arma2.

Once again and like the BAF release for Arma 2 the Private Military Army really allows for an exciting and fresh change to just the regular military experience.

In a multi-player environment it is be awesome to create your own missions and to have a different spin really keeps things fresh.

Again if you own Arma 2 this is a must have!

11 missions

Ka-60 helicopter

UAV drone with MG

AA-12 automatic shotgun

That's what you get with this expansion, but, ultimately it's the new map: Proving Grounds, which is worth the price of admission. The campagin missions are largely uninspired, and, sometimes a mess due to bad scripting/AI.

As good as the British Armed Forces DLC was, this doesnt come quite close.

It offers less content for the same price, and it's campaign isnt quite as good as the one found in BAF which tried to do a bit of an emotional story-line ala Brothers in Arms.

The units are basically a mix of people wearing tactical gear on civilian personal clothing, usually jeans, shirt and a cap. They use a variety of XM8 weapons which seem less out of place than the ones the USMC in ArmA 2 could use sometimes, because the weapon research was stopped for the military.

In general though, this DLC is only quite worth it if you are an avid ArmA 2 fan and want to support Bohemia Interactive like i did.

BAF i would recommend for everyone, but not this. All in all not a bad product, but definitely not all it could have been as proven by BAF.

Installation difficulties

By Stormwaltz posted 11th September 2011

First, this expansion - unlike other ArmA titles - doesn't merely have a serial code. It has a serial code you must register online. For those of you who take issue with DRM, be aware of that.

Second, it wouldn't install on my computer. It claimed "Can't find ARMA 2: OA" serial number in registry," despite my having it installed. (Could that be because I installed the game in a custom location? I don't know...).

I'm not one of those people who gives a one-star vote because they weren't able to play the game, but I think I have to rate it to post this, so it gets an "average" three stars.

Not a huge addon, perhaps could do with a little more content but its still high quality and the new weapons are good fun. Shotgun ballistics have improved those weapons massively too.

Campaign is alright, although the voice acting is terrible and it would be better without it.

I'd really recommend buying BAF instead of this, its worth getting if you own all of the other content though.

Ok not a lot of new stuff to play with, but the campaign was really cool and Mathilda definitely rocks! (That alone and supporting BIS for the best simulation ever is reason enought to buy it)

I'd have hoped for a bit more, but hey it's not a fortune. I recommend it for "armaholics". (If your not already one you better start playing, because you won't find a better game. The support is awesome and the fan made mods are epic.)

By Spartan9567 posted 12th December 2010

THis new addon from BIS attempts to add a generic FPS content to the game while keeping the original Arma 2 feeling. Although it seems that it is weighed down by Arma 2s computer intensiveness and some minor bugs that occur. However it is a great addition to Arma 2.

PMC is a new campaign that include 1 helicopter, a few units, 1 very small map, and some new guns.

The campaign are a mix of small easy missions and more tough ones where you have to disable IED's or protect VIP persons.. They even tried to make a mission where you have to solve a civilian issue just like being on a mission in a forign country like real soldiers do it sometimes.

In general im unfortunatly a bit dissapointed, there are very few new things all you get is litterly a new campaign and its not so good.

I think that PMC is okay but if you should choose inbetween this PMC addon and British forces (BAF) then i recommend BAF you get alot more units and value for your money.

PMC is a mod that even the most fanatic arma fans did not buy.. But if you want a new campaign yes then go for it its rather cheap.

This mod require ARma 2 Operation Arrowhead that you can also buy on gamers gate.
