GAME SUMMARY

ArmA Armed Assault

Rating: 4.2 (91 votes cast)

ArmA is a first person tactical military shooter with large elements of realism and simulation. This game features a blend of large-scale military conflict spread over large areas alongside the more closed quarters battle. The player will find himself thrust in the midst of an engaging and expanding storyline, fighting against smart, aggressive enemies who will continually provide a challenge over a massive landscape.

Story driven singleplayer campaign: by choosing the right mission order when playing the 20+ mission campaign you write your own history. Play it differently next time and find new ways to victory!
Large scale multiplayer: battles where tanks supported by infantry and helicopters take control of an enemy city can be played with 100+ living opponents in a role of both friendly and enemy forces.
More than 30 weapons: a new and improved recoil system gives unique firing characteristics to every weapon.
Vast environment to explore: an area over 400 square kilometers in size, full of flora and fauna is ready to be explored at your command.
More than 30 modern vehicles: all vehicles in the game can be controlled - tanks, armoured vehicles, helicopters, airplanes, civilian cars or even boats.
Multiple gunners: utilize the multiple gunner positions on tanks and helicopters to rain death on your enemies both in multiplayer missions and singleplayer campaign.
HDR Lighting effects: ambushing an enemy with the sun in your eyes leaves you at the disadvantage. Think smart, fight better!
Real constellations and tides: ArmA's great depth even includes such features as fully simulated star maps, lunar cycles and tides. Watch where you park your vehicle, soldier!
Built-in mission editor: create you own scenarios using the easy-to-use mission wizard, advanced built-in mission editor, scripting language or BI tools available online and share your creation with the game community.

ArmA Armed Assault review

A rather hard, overly complex military fps. It is ugly, and infuriating sometimes with how hard it can be to learn some commands that should be fairly simple.

However, its fun as hell and really puts you in some exciting moments sometimes, that really require you to think and strategize.

Great game to play with friends and sync on voice, lots of missions to download, lots of addons, lots of mods, etc, etc.

It is an AWESOME game to play vs with other humans, but few servers do vs. they are most coop

One of my favourite first person shooters of all time.

It takes a smart and focused mindset to play ArmA as you'll always need to think and keep an eye on every aspect of your combat, compared to the run-and-gun tactics of so many other FPSs in this day and age.

The game world is well-realised and believable. There's a wide variety of weapons and vehicles to use in campaign and play around with in other modes.

ArmA is a great time and definitely a refreshing change from games like Call of Duty and Medal of Honor.

It takes a patient gamer to play this game. I have seen countless Call of Duty and CS players attempt to play this game with a 'run n gun' type attitude. If you are going to play like that, it is better that you should uninstall this game now. Your team does not need you. This is a strategic FPS, and a good one at that. You have to find cover, set up shots, lead your enemies and acount for the wind and distance. The single player campaign is ok, but on line is where this game truely shines. The co-op mode has been long overdue, we are seeing less and less of this each year. Some multiplayer co-op matches can last 3-5 hours! You can leave, and return in 45 minutes in time to cap the next town. This is definately not a negitive thing.

If you get bored with easily head shot in Counter Strike Source, Call of Duty 4...., and need something more realistic likes America's Army ,this game is built for you.

The graphic is quite nice although this game is 3 years old (released 2007), and you can improve with max all settings (AA, AF, shadow,...) in video option. Sound is good too, gun fires are awesome.

In this game, you can try drive many war machine like: AH64 Apache, UH60 Black Hawk ( my favorite :D), AH1 Super Cobra, M1A1 Abrams tank, Humvee .... and so much more. But to can be master driver, you need practice hard (it took me 2 hours to control Black Hawk ).

Plus, this game is tactical shooter with 30+ personal weapon and you can command AI soldiers. It really fun.

Multiplayers is good with a big community, you can easily choose a server and join the fight.

In summary, this game is a must have with fans of Operation Flashpoint and gamers who like "something challenge"

Armed Assault is a great game for those in the FPS fraternity who like their shooters to require a little bit of mental prowess as oppossed to just a quick trigger finger. One wrong move in this game and you are dead.... no bunny hopping away from the incoming bullets.

AA has a great online community who are contantly adding top class modifications, campaigns and game types.

One of my favourite mods is Invasion '44 - a recreation of the Normandy landings.

Buy this game and you are getting a bargain as the community have expanded it so much you sometimes feel you are playing a different game entirely.

Ultra realistic infantry combat, you really feel like your there in the thick of it.

This game is an really an updated version of Operation Flashpoint called ARMA (Same makers). It's a really nice game. A note of warning: To get this to work in Vista, you'll need to download and apply patch 1.08 first and then you need to patch it again to version 1.18RC. After patching to 1.18RC, i was able to fully play the game.

Do you like realistic FPS with a huge open sandbox gameplay style? Look no further. This game is the spiritual sequel to Operation Flashpoint. The editor in this game is phenominal and many people play online. I'd recommend it fully
