Age of Booty review

By Cygnustar posted 23rd May 2011

Age of Booty is a game for those who likes to play multiplayer and kick other players' butts. This game is also for players who like playing in a team since this game requires a great amount of coordination between players.

However, there are several flaws that prevent this game from being a good game. Firstly, AI cannot be controlled. This is a big downside if the gameplay of this game is taken into account. Another is the not-so-helpful Gamespy Comrade. You need to connect to Gamespy just to be able to play LAN. Playing LAN requires internet. Imagine that. The biggest flaw of this game is that it won't connect to the internet server for multiplayer awesomeness in some network settings. In my case, and in my googling, some players too, the game will prevent you from playing online if you are behind some chosen routers, rendering the game almost unplayable. Single player just ain't worth it. So beware mates.

I rate this a 2/5 since it was a waste of money for me. The gameplay is good, but not being able to play multiplayer online just because I'm behind a router is very, very bad.

Overall good little gem 3/5.

Graphic: cartoonish style, fit the purpose

Sound : OK

Game play: Innovative and fun

Story: none, should be more interesting if story mode is added in the next version.

Multiplayer: THERE IS NO MULTIPLAYER on the same PC as described, you can only play with other through LAN or internet.(Well, it did say that four players on one "console", so PC is out; but is it misleading?) This is a disappointment for me since I intended to play with my family on the same PC when I bought it. Moreover, you need to login gamespy before you can start a LAN game, which I think is not necessary and a nuisance.
